Leaving was easy. It was everything else that was so damned hard. Chase walked behind Hayden as they came into her house, or her old house it depends how you look at it. They caught Annabel and her boyfriend kissing at the breakfast nook. "Oh Tyler this is my sister Hayden and her boyfriend Chase." Annabel said. Chase grinned. "I'll be one second" Hayden said to Chase. He nodded trying to follow her to her room. She firmly closed it in his face and he could hear her laugh. “I heard that laugh.” He said loud enough so the sound would travel through the door. He shrugged. She obviously wanted some time to herself so he would go entertain himself.
He remembered that Hayden was going to bring Teddi to see if the dog he was going to get would get along with her. He found his way to the dog room and let himself in. He grabbed Teddi’s leash and went in search of Teddi. He searched everywhere before finding her right where he had started; she was sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor. He sighed and shook his head. He attached the leash to her collar. “HAYDEN I’M OUTSIDE” He yelled. He didn’t want to disturb her so he just yelled at her. He had no response from her but he swore he saw Annabel and Tyler jump. He smirked. “See ya guys later.” He said over his shoulder as he walked out.
He led Teddi around for a few minutes waiting for Hayden. She peed twice and then grabbed a stick in her mouth. Chase laughed. Right then Hayden emerged out of the side door and said to Chase "Let's go". Chase nodded and walked towards her car. He opened the back door and lifted Teddi in. He closed the door and sat in the passenger seat. Hayden then drove them to the pound.
20 minutes later they parked in the parking lot and went into the humane society. Chase went to the door first and ushered Hayden in before him. They walked up to the front desk. It was only a few seconds before a middle aged man came out from behind on of the closed doors. “Hello. How may I help you?” He asked gaze shifting from Hayden and Chase. “Hi, I would like to adopt a dog.” Chase said to the man. Chase read his name tag which said, Bill. Bill shuffled around some papers then handed a clipboard over to Chase. Chase sat down in one of the seats and began filling out the info required. He messily scrawled his name, address, phone number, what he wants in a dog, his lifestyle, etc. 10 minutes later he finished filling it out and handed it back to Bill.
Bill looked it over and said, “Follow me.” Chase and Hayden followed him into one of the kennels. It looked as if these were all medium sized dogs. Chase approved. He didn’t want a small yappy dog but he didn’t want a big menacing one either. Bill left them a few minutes later after he instructed them not to put fingers inside the cages and to call if they want to see anyone. Chase made his way down the kennels. There were lots of dogs. Shepherds, Collies, bulldogs, terriers, you name it, it was there. None of these dogs interested Chase until he got to the last cage. The dog was barking in it and when Chase went to pet it- it shrank back in the cage as if it thought Chase was going to hit it. Chase knew the feeling, it had happened to him many times before. Chase read the label on the door. ‘No Name- Welsh Springer Spaniel. Ask for more info.’
Chase backed away from the cage and walked to the door. “Bill! I need you now.” He yelled. He didn’t care that he was yelling. Bill came right away and Chase had moved back to the cage with the dog in it. “I would like to see this one.” He said pointing to the dog. Bill nodded and opened the cage. Chase had bent down to see the dog and as bill opened the door, the dog came bolting out and charged at Chase. It pushed Chase to the floor and jumped on top of him. At first Chase thought it was attacking him but when it started to lick Chase’s face he knew otherwise. Chase laughed and sat up. He let the dog sniff his hand then petted the top of his head. Suddenly the dog noticed Teddi standing off to the side with Hayden. He bolted over to Teddi and sniffed at her. Then he started to play. Chase laughed. “Obviously they like each other.” He looked up at Hayden. He wanted to see her opinion about this dog.
After a few minutes of playing with the dog, Chase made up his mind. “I’ll take him.” He said to Bill. “Good choice. Now we can attach the leash to him and bring him up front.” Bill said grabbing a new brown leash. He attached it to the dog’s collar and led him up front. Bill gave Chase a few more forms to fill out then Chase handed Bill his credit card. In exchange Bill handed over the information paper about his new puppy. Name: N/A Age: 1 Breed: Welsh Springer Spaniel Temperament: merry, active, affectionate, gentle, loyal and loving. Also impulsive, mischievous, and incredibly stubborn. Chase grinned. This was the type of dog Chase wanted. Bill handed back Chase’s credit card and said, “Before you can fully own this puppy, you have to decide on a name.” Chase thought about that. “Roscoe , This dog’s name will be Roscoe.”

A Miracle are those Little Things that Happen Every Day------------------------------------------------- Hayden jumped out of the car and opened the back door. Teddi popped out and began to run in circles. Hayden walked to the walk door that lead to the pound but Teddi ran the other way. Hayden smiled, knowing Teddi remembered her old home. She picked her dog up and held her close. Once inside Chase was already filling out forms. "I'm gonna go look at some dogs." Hayden said as she walked past him into the hallway of cages. Hayden put Teddi down but kept her on the leash. Dogs barked a growled, excited to see another dog and a human.
Teddi shrunk away from the noise and into Hayden's legs. Hayden's eyes were fixed on a black puppy in a cage straight ahead of her. She walked up to the cage and the dog raced toward her. It placed it's front paws on the cage and barked for attention. Hayden stuck her hands through the bars and stoked his ears. "low me." Hayden heard as Chase walked through the door with a man who seemed to be just over 50. The man whose name tag read "Bill" asked if Hayden wouldn't put her fingers in the cage. She pulled back and asked, "Okay can I see-" She paused and looked at the information tag, "Angus then?" She asked the worker.
Bill let Angus out of the cage then headed over to Chase who had yelled for him. Hayden let the dog sniff her hand before she pet him. He wiggled around her to meet Teddi. Teddi seemed excited and because of the fact she didn't have a tail was shaking her butt. Suddenly a third dog ran over and began to play with Angus and Teddi. “Obviously they like each other.” Chase said coming up beside Hayden. "Yeah. This one's cute." She said motioning to the brown dog who had begun to play with Teddi. "I like this dog, Angus. Maybe we could have two more dogs?" She added with a grin.
Chase played with the brown dog and Hayden laughed as Teddi tugged on Angus's ear. Suddenly Chase said, “I’ll take him.” Bill smiled and answered, "Good choice. Now we can attach the leash to him and bring him up front.” Bill clipped a leash to Chase's new dog and began to lead him toward the door. "Wait." Hayden said. Bill turned, "I want Angus." She finished. Bill nodded and clipped a red leash to Angus's blue collar. Teddi followed them to the lobby. Bill handed each of them forums and Chase handed over his credit card back. Hayden pulled her own credit card from her bag and gave it to Bill. Hayden was half way done with her forms when Bill addressed Chase, “Before you can fully own this puppy, you have to decide on a name.” Chase was silent for a beat before answering, “Roscoe , This dog’s name will be Roscoe.” Bill nodded and scribbled it onto his note pad.
Once Hayden had finished her forms she handed the clipboard back to Bill. "Thanks" She said as Angus's leash was handed over to her. Chase and her walked out to the car. "So two new dogs. Three in all. Excited?" She asked as she opened the back door to her mustang and Angus and Teddi hopped in. Roscoe popped in too and the three began to play. "Where to now? Home?" Hayden asked. She loved how Chase's home was her's too. ------------------------------------------------- But they Still Make you Smile until Your Face Hurts

Leaving was easy. It was everything else that was so damned hard. As Chase was walking out with his new puppy Hayden said. "Wait." Bill turned around to face her. "I want Angus." Chase twisted his head and smiled at Hayden. Chase waited until Hayden was beside him before slipping his arm around her waist. They went up to the front desk and signed all the forms. They said their thank yous then left. "So two new dogs. Three in all. Excited?" Hayden said to Chase. He smiled. ¡§Very excited. To be honest, I have never had a pet before- like ones that live in the house.¡¨ He smiled thinking of the horses.
Red would be taken care of today, so he didn¡¦t have to go to the stables but he didn¡¦t know about Rolex. "Where to now? Home?" Hayden asked Chase. He got into the car and closed his door- Hayden mirrored him. ¡§Do you have to take care of Rolex today?¡¨ He asked Hayden. ¡§Because if you do we could go now. I could entertain the dogs while you take care of Rolex.¡¨ He offered. They sat there for a few minutes before Chase came up with an idea. ¡§Let¡¦s go home, we can grab some lunch then the people will come over then after we can go to the barn? Sound like an idea?¡¨ He suggested. He didn¡¦t wait for a reply.¡¨ Let¡¦s go.¡¨ He said making the decision for her. She started the car and drove away from the humane society.
They arrived back home in a matter of only a few minutes. Chase got out of the car first then opened the back door. All three dogs jumped out but Chase caught all the leashes before they could run away. He grabbed his share of dog supplies and went to the front door. He managed to get the door opened while holding onto everything. Once the door was shut he took off Angus¡¦s, Teddi¡¦s and Roscoe¡¦s leashes. They all started running around. They were also barking like mad. Chase put two fingers in his mouth and whistled. They quieted down and Roscoe actually came running to him. He smiled. He bent down to pet his head and scooped him up in his arms. Roscoe liking to have affection started to lick Chase¡¦s face.
Chase leaned his head away and settled Roscoe back on the floor. He shook his head and took hold of everything related to dog. He settled the bag of food in the kitchen; Amar would take it and put it somewhere. He then made his way up the stairs. He opened his door and looked around. He thought about where he was going to put the dog bed. He wouldn¡¦t put it downstairs; he wanted Roscoe with him at night. Finally he settled on putting it a few feet away from his freshly made bed. Abruptly the doorbell rang. Chase came out of his room and down the stairs to see who would be knocking at his door.
