Love is a Game

The smell of warm pretzels and frozen slushies meet Lexi as she walked through the food court entrance to the PW mall. Turning left she headed for the stores, mind set on the 'Apple ™' store. Lexi looked school girl chic as she strutted down the mall in her high top plaid sneakers and elegant tweed jacket. Lexi spotted two girls up ahead, sitting on a bench licking ice-cream. Lexi knew both girls, and felt a sting in her chest.

"Starting eighth grade will be fun" Lexi said, arm locked with her best friend for 8 years, Aubrey. The girls were sisters. Joined at the hip every moment. The only thing the girls didn't do together was swim team. Aubrey loved to swim but at the time Lexi didn't. This was never a problem until Aubrey became close friends with Monica. Lexi had never had anything against Monica, but they weren't friends.

It all started when Lexi and her boyfriend, Logan, broke up. Lexi was heart broken and some how everyone of Logan's friends seemed to hate her. And Monica was one of them. Who knew Monica's reason but she tried again and again to break Lexi and Aubrey apart. Finally the best friends did get into a fight but both hoped it was over.

Later Aubrey cuber bullied Lexi. Lexi was upset and angry, in the heat of her anger Lexi sent the messages to other people. Calling out Monica. Monica denied ever sending the messages and everyone seemed to side with her. Causing Aubrey to loose faith in Lexi and Lexi to lose most friends.

After a month of trying to get even Lexi decided to do the opposite, make friends. She decided to online chat with Monica and pitched the idea. Shooting her down and again calling her out for lying Monica gained more power. Finally Lexi lost it and said, "We both know who sent the messages" Monica replied quickly, "We do but nobody else will because they all believe me and look who as no friends now." Shutting off her computer Lexi cried as long as she could.

After three months of missing Aubrey Lexi began to grow closer to another friend and farther away from Aubrey. Of course seeing Aubrey and Monica didn't hurt any less but it did help to have a new friend. After a few weeks Lexi and her new best friend Sylvia were closer then Aubrey and her were. Lexi was the best possible friend she could be. But in the end it was too much.

After a couple of months Sylvia decided Lexi was too clingy and left her. It hurt more to Lexi because Sylvia was the nicest person she new. Sylvia teamed up with Jackie not more then two days later and became just as Lexi and her were.

A confusing bad dream. Losing two best friends still weighs on Lexi. Her feelings more raw towards Sylvia, even if it was a year ago.

Sylvia and Jackie sat together licking cones of ice cream. Lexi continued walking almost hoping they would stop her to say something. But she walked by and neither blinked an eye. A tear fell from Lexi's eye as she headed away from them.
