Lucy May Brooke
While the morning sun was rising and th birds were singing, bringing in rays of gold through the curtains, Lucy surfaced for the millionth time. When she had arrived and waited impatiently for Lady to also arrive she was dreaming of their first ride together in the new place. So as she waited for the minutes to go by until a suitable time for someone to wake up came, she dozed as much as she could with Daisy by her side, one hand rested on the golden labs head while she watched the shadows move as the sun got higher in the sky. When her clock struck six thirty Lucy decided it was time to rise as well. Grabbing a quick shower before breakfast she felt herself cleanse and got dressed in a hurry, her shower had woken her up fully, more than before and she shoved food down like an animal while Daisy watched after demolishing her own.
In her black jods and a strappy top Lucy made her way to the stables and slipped into her mares stall, who gave a gentle wicker of recognition and went down to nuzzle Daisy's head who sat by her feet. Grabbing a brush from the box Lucy wiped over Lady's grey coat until it shone and went to the tack room to grab her saddle.
We're off for a run girl Lucy said to Lady, she was getting herself excited about being sat on her back again. Slipping her the bit she buckled up the bridle and slid the saddle on after, tightening the girth and then pulling her front legs while Daisy dozed in the corner. While she was being tacked up Lady started to get excited, she loved to please and riding was a great pleasure. When she had finished the tacking up Lucy looked out of the window and saw what a beautiful day it was, perfect for a run, the sun was not high enough yet to make it to hot but it was still not to cold to give Lady a chill after she sweats up. Being an eventer means that this should help her stamina but won't be adding to much pressure to her. After a moment of deciding, Lucy also grabbed her exercise wraps from the bucket and slipped them on.
After getting herself ready and unclipping Daisy from her lead, hat in place, gloves on, Lucy gave Lady a gentle tug on the reins to ask her to leave the stable, it was not difficult as Lady eagerly left. Standing next to the mounting block Lucy swung her leg over and gave the mare a pat of praise. With the horse prancing beneath her and Daisy alongside Lucy squeezed on and asked for walk, who got a trotting jog instead. Turning out onto the trail Lucy was more than happy and spoke words to Lady to keep her calm while keeping a close eye on Daisy. Getting to the track wasn't the hard bit, that was keep Lady calm. Ready to go and lots of energy to burn after four days without work really got one in such a state. When at the rack side she commanded to Daisy to sit while she went to warm up, trotting on the grass next to the track to save even more excitement she felt the power beneath her, as Lady strode on and pushed her muscles working well, fresh and ready. Asking for canter was also easy, the slightest of touches sent her forward, her long strides, powering, taking the ground with all her strength.
After working for fifteen minutes Lucy was happy, with a hyper horse still eager she told Daisy to stay still who had creeped closer and then lay down on command. Lucy walked Lady onto the track and waited, walking slightly forward while she felt her horse push and gear up. It was when she got the feeling that Lady had it ready, contained, energy needing to be used that she let the pressure go at the front and squeezed with her legs. The amount of energy that charged from her hind legs to her front push Lady with so much force she was strong. The warmblood legs a ready made jumper could use so much power. It was thrilling, getting into jokey position Lucy let Lady run beneath her, feeling each stride, taking it all easy, watching the color blur in front of her eyes at the speed, right it be she was not as fast as a race horse, nor did she have the build or technique for she was only a warmblood, Lady sure as heck knew how to run and that was what she was doing. The speed in which she was going was decreasing as the energy she had was fading, not gone but not as high, she was listening. Waiting, her next instruction needed to be given and that was go. Lucy asked for more, keep going, don't stop and your muscles with strengthen, she knew not to keep going and after a few more strides she eased into a slow gallop to keep the work in tact. Waiting for the tell tale signs of her horse saying i will work were easy, and soon Lucy started to ask for a more rounded and collected gallop and then canter but made her run the track once more in just a steady canter, the terrain making it perfect for building muscles as each stride was asking the horse to really move her legs. As she got closer to her mark, Daisy, Lucy called to her as she brought Lady to a trot.
Being the obedient dog that she is, as Lucy trotted around the track she followed keeping up easily with Lady and after half a track, Lucy returned to walk and gave Lady the rein while Daisy who still had a little energy kept close and within reach. As her breath slowed Lucy thought about the moments passed with every move made by Lady in such detail, it was one of those days where anything said would not hurt her, she was happy and pleased with her girls.

FAYE LOUISE STRYDER' ( NERVOUS AND YOU'RE TEARING AT THE SEAMS ) ( THE LIGHTS ARE TOO BRIGHT AND YOU'VE GOT COLD FEET ) Faye was still between houses, so she woke up early as the sun pushed its way through the moth-eaten, age old motel curtains. Her alarm hadn’t gone off; so it would have been earlier than seven am. She had only arrived in the area around ten pm the night previous. It hadn’t been too late, but by the time she had gotten Cinnamon settled into his new stall (which had, thankfully, been nicely made up by the staff at Pinewood) it was even later, and considering she had been driving for eight hours that day to get to her destination there was no doubt in her own mind that she’d wake up the next morning completely and utterly unable to move from exhaustion. She groaned as the realisation hit: I will not get back to sleep this morning. She could hear cars on the main road outside, birds singing in the trees, people shuffling about in the motel room above… All sounds she could easily bear if it were a normal day. Just not when she was fatigued. She pulled herself out of bed and stumbled across the room, tripping over Copper. The dog yelped, not in pain but because he, too, was tired. He stood on his four legs and stretched out, had a shake and started crying to be given his breakfast. “You demand too much of me,” Faye told him, as she pulled a dog-bowl and some food from her travel sack. Copper stared blankly at her, not caring as long as he was fed.
It was nearing six when Faye actually was ready to leave her motel room. She left her bags inside: She’d rented the room for more than a week as she needed time to find a house within her price range, or a roommate who was willing to cover half the costs. She’d taken a job at the tack store for now, but it wasn’t too well paying. She couldn’t afford a mortgage on her own. She could obviously use her inheritance money, but she’d rather not waste it. She wanted to save it and eventually open a horse breeding farm, one like her dad use to run. She smiled, thinking of his fond memory, as she let copper into the back seat of her 4x4. Copper lay down, sprawled out in the back of the car. He loved being able to relax on a car journey. Faye could tell by his attitude, though, that he was reluctant to get into the car: he had gotten sick on the journey yesterday, so probably was just worried that there would be another long journey today. “Don’t worry, Cops, we’re only going to see Cinnamon.” Faye soothed, as she turned the key and started the car.
Cinnamon was in the barn, still, when she arrived. She left copper in the car; Cinnamon hated dogs and although he was used to copper, he still sometimes spooked when the canine made a sharp move. It was best to keep them apart. Faye wasn’t going to ride today as Cinnamon needed time to settle in, and as he was on full livery for a while, she wouldn’t really need to go near him at all. However, she had nothing else to do, so she opened her tack set and started to groom him all over: you could tell he was enjoying himself and that he loved the attention. Faye began to braid his mane, before she realised she didn’t have any bands to tie it with. She closed the tack set and left the stall, closing the door behind her, of course. As she headed toward the tack room, in the hops there might be some braids, she noticed that out in the track was a rider. Who else, in their right mind, would be up at this hour? It’s just turned seven… she wondered, This could be more interesting than braiding… she thought, as she headed down to the track. Maybe she could get a conversation out of the rider. It would be the first person she had got a chance to speak to since she arrived: Quite a milestone.
When she arrived to the track, the rider was cooling off. A canter to a trot then a walk. There was a dog with them; Faye was glad she hadn’t brought Copper; he could be so aggressive with other dogs. The dog was following on dutifully behind the horse and rider, and none of the three had spotted Faye. She stood at the entrance to the track, she would introduce herself when the rider dismounted and came her way, she didn’t want to spoil (what looked like) a very personal moment between a girl and her pets. It was picture perfect.

Lucy May Brooke
After their work Lady was still pushing on, breathing easier and was happy just walking around the track, as Lucy drifted in and out of her day dreams she kept checking on Daisy who was still jogging around Lady's feet, who of course didn't care. It was only after she had lent down to give her horse a hug and a pat that she noticed that Daisy was in fact more occupied with something else. As she watched she saw the golden lab looking in the distance back from where they had come. True enough, there in the distance at the start of the track was a figure, a girl.
Letting Lady have her reins she watched as the greys shoulders moved, if she was staying to watch something she would be disappointed she thought as she had now finished but perhaps she wanted to talk? Her grey moved forward getting her breath and feeling eager to go home, horses always have such a quick homing sense even when the had only been there for a few days.
As she drew closer Lucy brought her leg forward and loosened off her girth so it wasn't so tight and then while walking still she jumped off. When she landed she gave Daisy a pat,
Good Girl, you were very well behaved
she said to the dog and gave Lady a quick pat and a stroke. Stopping her she pulled up her stirrups and made sure her girth wasn't rubbing and then let it down again so she could have her freedom. If she spoke to the girl then it would be the first time she had spoken to anyone since arriving. It would make a change that was for sure. For the first time since she she had been trained Daisy was naughty, Lucy watched as the dog bounded off in the direction of the girl, ignoring Lucy's calls to come back and she quickly followed her cursing under her breath. As she drew close she called Daisy back with a stern voice and thankfully Daisy did come back to her sit, agitated to go back though.
When she was reasonably close, enough that talking wouldnt be hard to do she spoke to the girl,
I am so sorry, she doesn't normally ignore me like that, i hope you don't mind.
and to her shock horror Daisy left her side again to be fussed by the stranger.
I'm Lucy, Lucy Brooke, I didn't think there would be anyone else out this early
she said more as a statement rather than to the girl. Feeling the breath behind her she new that Lady was wanting some attention and she quickly turned around to give her a quick stroke as an apology. The horse was sweaty and really could have done with a sponge of but it would b rude not introducing herself and it was nice to meet someone, a little sweat wouldn't hurt her. She gave Lady a rub behind her brow band to get rid of anything itchy and Lady responded by giving her a gentle push as she wanted to rub her self rather than have it done for her.
This is also Lady, a little nosey i must say, but as friendly as anything
she smiled at the girl, a horse her size can sometimes be imposing but Lucy didn't ever want people to think she could be mean just because of her size. She dropped her gaze onto Daisy who happened to be panting on the floor, through boredom and tiredness after her run.
And that is Daisy.

FAYE LOUISE STRYDER' ( NERVOUS AND YOU'RE TEARING AT THE SEAMS ) ( THE LIGHTS ARE TOO BRIGHT AND YOU'VE GOT COLD FEET ) Faye watched at the big Labrador bounded toward her. She’d spent her life around animals and could read them pretty well by now. For example, she could tell that the hound’s run toward her was not angry or aggressive, but inquisitive and friendly. Simply, the Lab just wanted to meet her, have a sniff and maybe get a pat on the head or a belly rub. Part of this curiosity could be that the dog was able to smell Faye’s own dog, and the Labrador wanted to know more about this other canine. The girl was ready to be jumped up upon, but the obedient dog stopped and ran back to its mistress. Copper would never have been that well behaved, she thought, laughing inside her head. Not a chance.
She watched attentively as the other girl on the horse dismounted and started toward her also. She was around the same age as Faye. They were about the same height, but the other girl had a healthier figure, compared to Faye’s gaunt, skeletal frame. But then again, she was anorexic; a size four. The other girl spoke, but Faye wasn’t paying much attention, she was busy admiring the beautiful grey warmblood the girl had been riding. The mare was a few inches bigger than Faye’s own gelding, but it was hardly noticeable. She listened as the girl apologised, but felt that there was no need. An animal should be allowed to do as it pleased, not be controlled by a human. She wouldn’t have minded if the dog had been able to get to her, before being called back. Of course, as she thought this, the dog came loping toward her again, this time jumping up and giving her hands a lick. Faye giggled, “Don’t worry about it, my beagle would be doing the same to you if I’d brought him down. I regret leaving him in the car now; I think they’d have gotten on quite well.”
Lucy Brooke, then. This was the first person she had met so far. She seemed polite; something Faye just wasn’t. She was around Faye’s age, something Faye hated about other girls. Other girls her age were fake, bitchy, and snobby. Faye was bitchy and snobby too, but she wasn’t false. She spoke her mind. She hated them because they were either too focussed on their professional lives or they liked to party too much, there never seemed to be a healthy medium.
“I’m Faye Stryder,” she added, smiling, still patting Daisy, who seemed to be enjoying the attention. Daisy the dog decided then that she would relax some, and lay down. “Lady’s beautiful. I have a warmblood too, but he’s in his stall. We only arrived last night. He’s a dapple grey, fifteen-three. We should ride together sometime.” she said, hoping she didn’t sound as though she was imposing. It would just be nice to make a friend or too. Not someone to share secrets with or anything, just someone to ride out with, and maybe someone who could look after Cinnamon if she had to visit family or something. She didn’t want need a committed relationship, just a means of feeling less-lonely. Of course, if a proper friendship did arise, she wouldn’t complain. “Shall we head back up then?” obviously she meant back up to the stalls, so Lady could get cleaned up a bit. She was sweating quite heavily for her workout. “I’m only up early because of the stupid sun shining through my motel window. It wasn’t pleasant, I’ve hardly slept. What’s your excuse?” She laughed again, trying to make conversation. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Lucy May Brooke
Lucy smiled at the girl when she made the comment about her dog,
Aww i bet they would, Daisy just loves people, it is more that not all people love dogs
she laughed as she watched her dog enjoying the entertainment.
It's nice to meet you Faye
she looked at the girl for the first time properly then and she saw that she was really slim, be it health or build she didn't look like she had anywhere near enough fat on her. She was about the same age as Lucy if not younger, she could tell this. There was something about her though that made Lucy seem interested, there was something about her personality that just drew her to her.
After complimenting Lady Lucy smiled, she loved her mare and she was loved by many, be it boasting or not Lucy knew that was true and it was a fact, take it or leave it. When she spoke of her own grey gelding she recalled seeing another grey head in one of the stalls when she was down that morning, but so eager to ride didn't really pay that close attention. It would be nice to have someone to ride out with that would be fair to say. When she suggested riding out together Lucy nodded,
Yeah that would be great, it is always nice to have someone to ride with and Lady here loves other horses.
she said giving her mare a quick scratch. Picking up the reins she nodded when she suggested going back up and started walking towards her again with Lady close at her side, with the movement around her Daisy also got to her feet, obviously expecting some more attention or something to do. Following her owner she followed close to Faye too, when her mum was looking after Lady she knew it was best to keep out of the way so she didn't get kicked, natural instincts of a dog, so if she stayed close to Faye she knew she might just get that little bit more attention. While they were walking Lucy laughed at the comment made about the time, it was rather early when she was up, Ah well, i am just rather passionate about Lady i guess, i have been waiting for a few days since she arrived for her to settle in and i knew that she would be ok today, it has been something i have been dying to do and sleeping really wasn't working for me when i knew i had a horse waiting. It is always nice i think to ride at this time too, when there aren't many people around and the sun is just rising, i guess been woken by the sun isn't as nice, but i like riding when it isn't overly hot and Lady doesn't need the extra heat after her work. So i guess i just wanted to ride while i had the chance.she laughed. Looking around her she noticed how much it had changed since she came out this morning, where the dew was on the grass tips and the white looked like snow in the distance, how the flowers all had drops of moisture on there petals and how all the spiderwebs caught in the sun were looking magnificent had all gone, the grass was green, the flowers dry and the spiderwebs invisible again, all the magic had been lost. The only thing the same were the animals, the human in the riding clothes, the horse in the riding gear and the dog, coat shining in the sun. That was the most important thing about sunlight, to Lucy everything changed in some way, the horses coats go metallic and he dogs shinny. It was something that always made Lucy look and appreciate what they had and with this field surrounding the barn nothing could make the view bad.
