-- PERSONALITY
-- DETERMINED: Emily is one of the most focused and determined people you will find. She hasn't had the perfect start to life but she's making the most of it. Emily is the kind of woman who can work a 12 hour day and still keep going. Even on the bleakest days, she can push through and find something positive to hold on to. She is brave, strong and above all else determined to succeed, even when you tell her she can't.
-- KIND: Emily can't help but to be kind, sometimes too kind. To her children she is a slave, she only wants them to be happy. To her friends she is generous and reliable, willing to give you the shirt off her back and always there when you need her. To her lovers Emily is caring, unselfish and always forgiving. But in the wrong hands she can be mistreated, used and pushed around.
-- MOTHER: Being a mother is a gift to Emily. She places her children before anything and is fiercely protective of them. Abigail, her 5 year old daughter, is her shadow, her mini-me and her best friend. The quick-witted little red head acts much older than her years and is often Emily’s ‘rock’ in difficult times. The triplets, yes thats three babies, Hazel, Olivia and Paisley, are exhausting at times, and having three two-year-olds sure keeps Emily on her toes. Her family, as hectic, messy and stressful as it is, is Emily’s whole world.
-- LOVES: Her children, her old arabian mare Dahlia, riding horses, singing (but only to her children), tea, sleeping babies, flowers, hanging out just her and Abby, reading, a glass of wine after a long day.
-- HATES: Not having enough for her kids, long checkout lines, toothaches, people who look down on single mothers, her ex, grumpy babies, working inside, cold wet weather, watching television, her accent (even though you can barely notice it).
-- HISTORY
Emily Elizabeth Ward was born in Oxford, England to parents George and Abigail Ward. She went to a nice private school and lived in a nice house. She took riding lessons at the local riding center and became completely obsessed with horses. She would ride her bike to the barn everyday to visit with the horses and clean stalls to work off extra lessons. Emily was 11 when her father passed away from cancer. Her mother, never having been alone now had to support her daughter and herself. Mrs. Ward received an invitation from her sister who had immigrated to the US a few years ago. And so Emily and her mother moved into a small town in Ohio and did alright for themselves. Emily was often teased at school for her red hair and English accent. She missed riding so much, but found English style riding wasn’t very prevalent in the small rural town. She found a woman who would let her clean stalls in exchange for riding her Quarter Horses around the pasture. They were hunters, but they were horses and Emily jumped at the chance.
Emily continued to ride day in and day out in that old woman’s back pasture, rain or shine. She loved the old stock horses, but she missed the feeling of a spunky hunter or a talented dressage mount under her. The day that a trailer rolled in and out popped a shiny black Arabian mare, Emily had to muffle her squeals of joy. The owner’s of the beautiful creature were going on holiday and the mare was to stay there for a short while. Emily was imeadiately taken with Dahlia, and the beautiful mare became quite fond of her too. On the day she was set to ship out, Emily was suprised to see her still in her stall after school. And the days turned into weeks and the weeks to months and Dahlia’s owners never came back for her. The day the old woman finally gave Emily permission to ride Dahlia was the bet day of the young girl’s life. She and Dahlia galloped all over the pasture, the mare was fast and fiery yet careful and gentle and Emily wept. Whether they were tears of joy or it was just the wind she didn’t even care.
No matter what happened throughout her teenage years, Emily still visited Dahlia every day. They had such a special and obvious bond that the old woman gave Dahlia to Emily. When Emily was 19 she met a boy and the fell deeply in love. When her mother died suddenly in a car accident, he was there to comfort her and they moved into a house together. On Emily’s 21st birthday she gave birth to Abigail Charlotte Ward. Her daughter was her whole world, she loved the little girl with such a passion that she began to see her relationship with the girls father more clearly.. He was manipulative and controlling and the way he looked at their daughter made Emily suddenly very protective of her. She endured their relationship for two more years. She didn’t want the shame of being a young single mother. But when she found out she was pregnant again and he demanded she abort her baby she lost it. She packed up all of her and Abby’s stuff and left that night.
Emily struggled through the first half of her pregnancy working days at a local coffee shop with Abigail playing in the back, and nights at a bar serving drinks to sloppy, gross men. When she went to a regularly scheduled ultrasound and they found not one - but three heartbeats. Emily was having triplets. She cried, but only for a little while. She knew she had to make enough money to support herself and her family. She still managed to see Dahlia each day, if only for five minutes. Abby loved Dahlia, and Emily couldn’t help but smile at how careful the huge animal was around her daughter. After giving birth to her triplets Hazel, Olivia and Paisley Emily had enough money saved up to take 4 months off work. She also had to quit her evening work, which made things tight financially but she managed. Until about 6 months ago she got laid off. She was struggling to find work anywhere when she responded to a stable hand and exercise riding job at Pinewood stables in West Virginia. She spent the last of her savings moving her and her kids into a two bedroom apartment in town. Emily is nervous about moving to a new town but excited to start building a life for her and her girls.
