Kate couldn't wait to get out to the barn and ride today. Granted, she loved to ride everyday, but today her friend Logan was coming out to ride on a trail ride with her. She could hardly contain her excitement as she ran down the stairs of her place, and walked out the front door. She put her hair up into a ponytail, and skipped down the stairs to her truck. She got Max into the back, and got inside, and listened to the engine roar to life. Luke Bryan blasted on her radio, and she sang along. She picked up her phone to call Logan, but got his voice mail, " Hey Logan! Hope you're awake because I cannot wait to see you at the barn today! Grab your riding boots and come on out! Jericho is looking forward to seeing his riding buddy again. Anyway, I better not talk on the phone and drive, so I will see you soon. luv ya sweetie," and she hung up and kept driving.
She turned down the dirt driveway, and smiled seeing the black roof of the barn in sight. She couldn't stop thinking about Holten, and she smiled at the thought. He was back in her life, and he seemed smitten with her, but was it for real? She sent him a text telling him good morning, and then finished off her coffee. She pulled up to the barn, and parked her truck. She got out, letting Max out of the back, and waved hello to the owners as they were teaching their kid how to ride. She brushed some of her loose hair back, stuffed her hands in the back of her jeans pockets and went to get her boys out of the pasture. Once she was in the barn, she got them hooked up to the cross-ties and immediately went to work grooming them both before Logan came.

At precisely 9:30am the annoying beep of the alarm resounded from the little bedside table and Logan rolled over with a slight groan. He slapped the snooze button and pulled the covers over his head. Suddenly, his attempt at sleeping few minutes longer was ruined as a flurry of wagging tails and tongues attacked his bed. "Alright, alright, I'm up!" he groaned, pushing the dogs way from his face as he threw the covers off and swung his feet off the edge. He couldn't help but smile now as the two bundles of energy did their best to sit still, their tails still wagging furiously. They must have known they were going to the barn today. He reached out to scratch their heads before standing up and grabbing his phone from the beside table. One new voicemail? He lifted the phone to his ear and pressed play. Kate's chipper voice greeted him on the other end and he let a small grin play across his face. She was such a morning person...
Grabbing a pair of jeans, he stepped into them and threw on a t-shirt before heading into the kitchen, followed closely by Trigger and Ace. After filling their food bowls and opening a can of cat food for Roscoe, Logan grabbed a pack of poptarts from the pantry and scarfed down a few bites before heading back to the bedroom to slip his boots on. Honestly, he was pretty excited for today. It had been a while since he had rode, and him and Kate had plans to go on a trail ride. After he had ran a comb through his hair and made sure he looked semi presentable, Logan grabbed his keys whistled for the dogs before heading out the door. Luckily the barn was only about a ten minute drive. Kate didn't like to be kept waiting. Although, she was pretty adorable when she pretended to be mad... Logan smirked to himself and turned the radio on. Brad Paisley's Moments was playing and he turned it up a bit. He wasn't really sure why, but this song had always reminded him of him and Kate for some reason. Their romantic relationship hadn't worked out, but she still made Logan smile and he wouldn't trade their friendship for anything.
Before he knew it they were pulling into the stables. Kate's truck sat in her usual parking space and Logan pulled in right next to it. Stepping out and closing the door behind him, he went around and let the dogs out of the back. They happily scampered off as Logan grabbed a few horse treats from the bag he kept in the glove box. He stuffed them in his pocket before heading towards the entrance to the main barn. The sweet smell of hay mixed with leather and horse sweat made it's way to his nose as he stepped inside and allowed his eyes to adjust to the light difference. Kate stood at the end of the hall, both Jericho and Sinatra standing in the cross ties as she brushed them down. Logan put his thumb through his belt loop and strolled over to where she worked. "Morning, Skippy" he said with a small smile, using the nickname he'd given her a long while ago. "A little excited there, are we?" he joked, noticing how far she'd gotten on getting them ready. "Here, allow me" he said, picking up a brush and beginning to work on Jericho.

Kate was buzzing around the horses, while she waited for Logan to get here, and made sure both of her boys were presentable. She got Jericho groomed, and tacked first since Logan was going to be riding him. She used her older, spare saddle on Jericho. The leather seat was a little worn and faded, but it was still hard as a rock, and almost looked good as new. On the back, it still had her name plate that read, " Katherine R. Hudson" She ran her thumb across the cold brass plate and smiled. This was her old jumping saddle when she was showing Jubilant years ago. Thankfully, Logan was able to fit into the seat, and she smiled when she saw her reflection in the name plate again.
She left Jericho in the cross-ties with a saddle on, and went on to grooming Sinatra. This would be his fourth trail ride, and she was looking forward to another. He was so good on the trails, and took well to the surroundings. Occasionally, he would jump at a little sound or something, but other than that he was perfectly sound. She bent down, and picked the dirt and muck out of his hooves, and felt him reach around and press his muzzle to her butt. She smiled and said, " You so much as rip a hole in my pants, and I will use your hide to repair it," she teased and smiled as she turned around and tapped his nose. She started to brush his body, when she heard a familiar voice. "Morning, Skippy", she turned to Logan as smiled and jumped into his arms and squealed. " You made it! Glad to see you woke up," she smiled and stepped out of his arms. She brushed back some of her hair and said " Oh you know me, I like to be on a horse on time," she told Logan and Max came darting through the barn with Trigger and Ace. She laughed and looked at Logan, " Oh Jericho is pretty much ready for you. He just needs his bridle on. I'll have Sinatra ready in a minute," she said and went to get her main saddle. She tacked up Sinatra, then gave Logan, Jericho's bridle, and she put on Sinatra's bridle. " You ready to ride," she smiled as she passed him and walked out of the barn.

Logan loved days like this. It was still somewhat early, but there were a couple of riders arriving to start their lessons, as well as a few stables hands bustling about to finish their morning duties. It reminded him of when he used to come here to exercise his boss's ponies every weekend. Of course, that was years ago, but now he had other reasons to come here. When he'd met Kate a few years ago and she found out that he hadn't rode since he was eighteen, she offered to teach him again. After only a few weeks of getting to know her, their friendship began to blossom. Ever since then, the barn served as his escape from the world and he had many fond memories here. He often visited when he wanted to get away from it all. It didn't hurt that he could usually find Kate here. There was just something about talking to her that always made him feel better...
He let out a laugh as Kate turned around practically jumped into his arms. "Well good morning" he smiled, embracing her for a moment before letting her go. "Of course I made it. Although I must say, by the looks of it, it was a close call. A few more minutes and you might've left me" he joked, patting Jericho's neck. He chuckled as the dogs came darting through the isle, causing a few neighs from the resident horses. Jericho let our a whinny, pawing the ground a couple times before relaxing again. Logan took the bridle from Kate and slipped it over Jericho's head before securing it. He patted his neck again and looked over to where Kate was already leading Sinatra out. 'You ready to ride?' she asked with a sly smile, a hint of competitiveness in her tone. Logan smirked."Bring it on," he joked, grabbing Jericho's bridle and following Kate out into the stable yard.
Once outside, Logan halted Jericho and placed his foot in the stirrup, pulling himself up and swinging his other leg over before resting it in the other stirrup. He settled himself in the saddle before picking up the reins and nudging Jericho into a walk towards the trail. The gelding tossed his head and happily started forward, his ears pricked anxiously. Logan smiled, glancing back to see if Kate was following. "Try to keep up!" he chuckled before looking forward and nudging Jericho into a trot. The gelding readily picked up his pace and Logan could almost feel his excitement. He was grateful that the weather was looking up today. The air was warm, and a soft breeze wafted through the tree tops, bringing with it the scent of the freshly bloomed honeysuckle bushes that grew along the edge of the woods. The sounds of birds chirping made it's way to Logan's ears as they entered the woods and he sighed contentedly He had a feeling this was going to be a good day...

Kate led Sinatra to a good level spot to mount, she slid her foot into the stirrup, and swung herself on. Sinatra moved slightly, but she held him still, and quickly put her helmet on. Kate smiled at Logan, " Hun, you have no idea what I am capable of on horseback," she teased and tapped Sinatra's sides and they headed down the trail. Sinatra and Jericho walked side by side, but then Logan picked up a trot. Kate looked surprised and held Sinatra back since he wanted to follow suit and catch up to his big brother. " No sir, we are not going to trot just because Jericho is," she mumbled to her horse, and Sinatra tossed his head. Party pooper! She held the reins tight to keep him from taking off. Be patient grasshopper, good things come to those who wait.
She watched Logan and Jericho go on ahead, and she wanted to give Logan the impression that he was alone. Wait for it...wait for it. She smiled and gave Sinatra his head, and he took off in a canter to catch Jericho. Kate laughed as she reached Logan and called, " What now slowpoke? You seem to be slacking off," she said and laughed again and turned Sinatra down another path through a grove of oak trees. She grabbed a tuft of mane, looking over her shoulder, and smiled seeing Logan and Jericho catch up to her. " How about you try and keep up," she called, turning her attention back forwards, and jumping over a pile of logs in the woods. She landed perfectly, and kept riding.
They reached an open field on the property, and she slowed Sinatra down once she reached the outside of the forest. Poor Sinatra was puffing, and he sneezed. He was such a good boy. She smiled and patted his neck, and loosened her reins. She turned around and watched for Logan and Jericho to come through the woods. The view from where she was sitting was breath-taking. She jumped off of Sinatra, and held the reins in her hands.

'Hun, you have no idea what I'm capable of on horseback' Logan smiled to himself as the words left Kate's mouth. He was actually quite aware of what she was capable of, and he knew that she could kick his butt if she wanted to. But that didn't stop him from messing with her. A little friendly competition never hurt anyone, right? Logan glanced to his left as he heard Kate and Sinatra coming up on them. He should've known Kate wouldn't let him get away with trying to win. He smirked to himself, nudging Jericho into a smooth canter and keeping his eyes straight ahead. He glanced to the left as Kate and Sinatra began to pass them up. 'What now slowpoke? You seem to be slacking off' Kate shouted over the sounds of the hooves hitting the ground. Logan let a laugh ring out, leaning forward in the saddle and being careful to let Jericho have his head.
As soon as he saw the pile of logs he braced himself, sitting deep in the saddle and waiting for the perfect moment to distribute his weight. He knew Jericho was a great jumper, but Logan himself had only jumped a few times, and it was in a practice ring. Kate had taught him how to keep his balance and move with the horse, but it was still a little nerve-wrecking. But of course, Jericho was a pro. As they got closer, he automatically changed his pace, preparing for the little jump. To Jericho this must've looked like a piece of cake. Logan loosened the reigns and tightened his legs around the saddle, leaning forward just as Jericho sailed over the jump. They landed with ease and Logan smiled to himself. He gathered the reins again and slowing Jericho into a trot as they exited the forest and neared where Kate and Sinatra were standing.
"Good boy" Logan patted Jericho's neck and swung down from the saddle, taking his reins over his neck and leading him over next to Kate. He let out a breath and shook his head, a small smile still lingering on his expression. "I gotta admit, you nailed me on that jump." he offered her a small smile before turning his gaze to their surroundings. "Wow, I didn't even realize this was here." he said, taking in the large clearing. He could just see the tips of the peeking through the dense trees that surrounded the field. The tall grass swayed in the breeze and it looked like a picture you'd see at an art fair. He turned his eyes back to Kate, studying her facial expression for a moment before stuffing a hand in his pocket.
"So, how's Ben doing?" he asked casually, glancing at her face quickly to gauge her expression. He wasn't sure if he should bring it up or not, but the question had been weighing on his mind for a couple of days now. Ever since she told him about their conversation on the phone Logan had been worried. He just hated seeing her tear herself up over him. The guy just wasn't worth it from what he heard, and the last thing he wanted to see was Kate get hurt again. He hoped Kate understood that Ben was just going to keep dragging her down with him if she didn't let him go. It was up to him to fix himself. But Logan had no idea how to say that without sounding like an ass, especially since Kate probably already thought he just had a vendetta out for Ben. She was a grown women and Logan had no say over who she associated with, but that still didn't stop him from worrying about her.

Kate stood on the edge of the forest, and looked out onto the breathtaking scenery. The mountain tops just peeking through the clouds, and the tall grass swayed in the light breeze. some of the breeze blew some hair across her face, and she brushed it back. She looked at Logan and smiled and linked her arm to his and leaned against his shoulder. " Just at the base of those mountains is the extent of the Kings' property. I ride here sometimes, but I'm mostly just busy with horses, or lessons. It's peaceful, and I can think," she said and slowly let him go and walked through the tall grass, and heard Jericho and Logan following behind her. She placed her hand on Sinatra's neck and raised her knees higher slightly to get through the grass.
Her stomach tied in knots when he asked her about Ben, and she bit her lip, and didn't look back at him. " Ben is good...I suppose. Still the same person when I last saw him. I actually contacted him a while back to see where he was. He calls me regularly to talk, but after a week of not hearing from him I called him." She stopped and looked at Logan and allowed him to catch up with her. She was starting to sounds like a clingy girlfriend. When they were walking side by side, she wrapped her arm around his again and they walked in unison. " It sounded to me that he refuses to give up his vices. No matter how much I encourage him to be better, and give them up. He just pushes me away, but yet I find myself coming back to him and wiping away his tears or cleaning up after him. I know I am a fool for holding onto something like that, but it's who I am Logan. I can't let go, so go ahead and lecture me," she said and sat down on the ground while Sinatra grazed.

Logan's eyes glanced down as he felt Kate slip her arm in his and rest her head on his shoulder. He smiled softly to himself before turning his gaze back to the scenery around them. He listened as she explained that she came here to think sometimes. "It's beautiful". He sighed, taking a breath of the fresh spring air. Jericho nudged him with his muzzle, picking up on the treats he had concealed in his pocket. He stopped walking for a second and chuckled softly, reaching into his pocket to pull out a treat. He held his hand out and Jericho took it happily, letting out a snort and nodding his head a few times. Looking up, Logan watched Kate walk ahead and clicked to Jericho to get him to follow. He listened closely as Kate's words made their way to his ears, still worried that he might've upset her. He analyzed her words, noting that she refused to look back at him. He could almost hear the conflict in her voice. As soon as he caught up with her he slipped her a treat to give to Sinatra and re-linked arms, walking beside her as she continued.
Listening closely, he decided to keep his mouth shut until she was finished. 'I know I am a fool for holding onto something like that, but it's who I am Logan. I can't let go, so go ahead and lecture me'. His brows knitted together and he pursed his lips as he debated what to say. Sitting down next to her, he crossed his legs and just looked to the sky for a moment, letting the peaceful silence all but envelop them. It wasn't often that Logan was at a loss for words, but this seemed to be one of those moments. "I'm not going to lecture you, Kate" he said finally, letting another sigh escape his chest as he turned his head to face her. "And you're not a fool." he shook his head and studied the grass next to his foot, pausing for a second to collect his thoughts. "I mean, you're a grown women. You can make your own decisions, and trust me, I know better than anyone that you're more than capable of taking care of yourself." a sound that resembled a chuckle escape his throat and he offered a small smile before turning his gaze back to the treetops. "I just don't want to see you get hurt again." he paused again, sending her a quick glance before looking back at the grass like it was the most interesting thing in the world. Saying what he thought wasn't exactly one of Logan's strong points.
"I guess what I'm trying to say is, you have to decide for yourself if you think he's worth it." he finished carefully, pulling up a small tuft of grass and rolling it between his fingers a few times before letting it fall to the ground. He really wasn't sure what else he could say. She knew how he felt about it, and that was that. He was under no illusion that he had any right to tell her what to do, but he figured the least he could do was tell her where he stood and hope that she would understand. Hey, maybe Kate was just what Ben needed to clean up his act. But to Logan, it just seemed like he was using her, and it killed him to know how she was tearing herself up to take care of him. It wasn't fair to her, and she deserved better than that. But he knew he would never have the right words to tell her that, and he wasn't exactly in a position to tell her what she deserved. Hell, he'd used her before, and it was still something he'd never forgive himself for. Sighing, Logan leaned back on his elbows and watched as Jericho began to graze on the tall grass, his tail flicking every few seconds. He peeked at Kate from the corner of his eye, wondering what she was thinking. He hoped he hadn't ruined her mood. That really wasn't his plan, he just wanted to find out where she stood on the whole matter.

" But your thinking about it Logan. I know you all too well. I tell you my problems, if there is something bothering me, and you rub your chin and give me some fatherly advice. You're very good at that you," she said and gave him a small smile as he sat down in the tall grass next her. She laid on her back, and crossed her hands over her flat stomach. She looked up at the sky and sighed, " This would be one of those times where I could use that advice Logan. I...I still have feelings for him, and I am foolish enough to set myself up for another heart break with him. I come to him, hoping and optimistic that maybe today is the day that he will want to change, but when I try and help him and make him realize that he is better that what he is right now he just shrugs it off and turns back to his habits. Sometimes I find myself out of options on what to do when he gets that way. I just sit there in the same room with him, and I endure watching him ruin himself. I think I am a bad person. First off, I'm not trained to give that kind of advice. Secondly, when all else fails I find myself yelling at him. He just makes me so...ugh, angry," said Kate and pounded her fists to the ground. " I'm never going to get through to him. He shuts me out half the time."
She sighed and closed her eyes and shielding them from the sun that peaked through the trees. She let out a small breath, and opened her eyes again. " Okay, I am done with my therapy session. We need to do something else. I know, let's go swimming. There's a lake nearby," she said looking up at Logan and smiled.

'I know you all too well. I tell you my problems, if there is something bothering me, and you rub your chin and give me some fatherly advice. You're very good at that you know'. Logan raised his eyebrows and a smile of sorts crossed his expression. He shook his head with one of his trademark smirk, "Well, I wouldn't put it like that, but I suppose I could take that as a compliment" he chuckled slightly, leaning back on the grass and placing his hands behind his head. After a moment, Kate began to speak again. Logan kept silent as she went on, explaining why she hadn't yet given up on Ben yet. Logan rolled over and propped himself up on his elbow as she finished, pounding her fist on the ground in obvious frustration. Logan winced to himself. He hated seeing her like this. And knowing that Ben was the reason for it made Logan dislike him that much more. But he kept his mouth shut about that and decided for focus on Kate instead.
"You're not a bad person, you're an incredible person. That's why you haven't given up on him yet. Don't forget that, Kate. You should never let him make you feel like anything less than you are." he said simply. Of course, he meant every word, but he didn't want to get too sentimental. "I guess the only thing I would tell you is to do what you think it best. You know, follow your heart and all that jazz." he chuckled, trying to lighten the mood a little bit. "Shitty advice, I know, but it's all I got." he half smiled followed by a little chuckle as he rolled back over to his back and squinted into the sun that was peeking out from behind a stark white cloud. The breeze had settled down a bit and the air felt a little hotter now that the sun was making it's full appearance. He figured it was probably almost noon. Crazy how fast the time passed.
'Okay, I am done with my therapy session' Logan sighed to himself, somewhat relieved. He never really was very good at this stuff. "Good, cause I'm all Dr. Philed out. And yes, I just used Dr. Phil as a verb. Deal with it" he joked. 'We need to do something else. I know, let's go swimming. There's a lake nearby. Logan sat up and smiled. He knew the lake was only about a minute away, probably closer if they cut through the field. "Last one there has to buy lunch?" he suggested with a smirk, raising his eyebrows competitively. Jumping to his feet, he quickly moved over to where Jericho was still grazing. The gelding perked up as Logan neared, wondering what was going on. Logan gathered his reins and pulled himself up the saddle with ease. Clucking a few times, he tapped Jericho's sides with his heels and they quickly took off at a canter towards the lake. Logan laughed to himself, looking back over his shoulder to make sure Kate was following suit.

Kate smiled at Logan when he referenced Dr. Phil. He had to go there! Kate watches his show all the time, and he knew how much she liked it. " No, you are no Dr. Phil. You're my Logan, and way hotter than the balding Dr.Phil," she smiled and sat back up again, and brushed the blades of grass of her top. She sighed and looked at Logan, and poked his side to make him squirm, and she giggled. Her eyes lit up when he accepted the challenge and he jumped up and ran to Jericho. " Hey, you cheater! Get back here!." She cried as she scrambled to get her socks and boots back on in a hurry. She saw him get on Jericho and canter away, as she got up and sprinted to Sinatra. She grabbed the reins, and swung herself on with no stirrups, and kicked him in the sides, and he took off full force. ' We'll catch him. He's not that fast of the rider,' she thought and grinned as she had him in her sights. She smiled and made the sound of a foxhunt bugle with her mouth, and charged towards Logan.
She wasn't fast enough, Logan beat her by a nose, and she slowed Sinatra down. The poor gelding was puffing and chewing his his bit. She patted his neck and jumped off, pretending to pout and took off Sinatra's saddle to give him a break. He ran a good race, and she walked over to Jericho and saw Logan smiling in victory. She looked at him and turned away pretending to be upset. She walked to the oak tree next to the lake, and started taking off her shoes. She took off her shirt, and riding breeches till she was in her undies and a sports bra and tank top. She looked at Logan and ran down the dock and dove in.

Logan smirked to himself as he heard Kate call after him. Of course, it wasn't long before the sounds of Sinatra's hoofbeats could be heard nearing closer. Logan pushed Jericho into a gallop as he heard the pair approaching. Sinatra was fast, that was for sure and it didn't help that Kate was a phenomenal rider. But Logan was determined to win this one. As the lake came into sight he eased the gelding into a trot before halting in front of the makeshift hitching post that was set up between two large trees.
Kate arrived and stopped Sinatra just moments after, a very displeased look on her face. Logan knew how much she hated to loose, which only made this moment more victorious. He smirked and patted Jericho's neck before dismounting and jumping to the ground. The horse snorted and pawned the ground a few times, still a little riled up from the run. Logan smiled, soaking in the moment as Kate came over to where he stood. He almost never beat her in anything. Granted, he may have had a small head start, but he wasn't going to let that stop him from basking in his glory. He chuckled as she turned away, obviously pretending to be upset. He could recognize that fake pout anywhere.
"Oh come on" he laughed, peeking over Jericho's back as he began loosening his saddle before undoing it and slipping it off. "If you're good I'll let you pick where we go" he offered, a prominent smirk still plastered on across his face. Yes, he might have been enjoying himself a little too much, but he figured he deserved it considering hos many times Kate had beat him in their little races. He placed the saddle over the wooden hitching rail and wiped his hands on his jeans before looking up to see Kate starting to undress. He stopped for a second, finding himself staring a little more than he probably should have. Sometimes he forgot how attractive she was...
He looked down quickly, stuffing a hand in his pocket while running the other through his hair. Clearing his throat, he headed towards the dock where she had just dived in. Logan smiled and pulled off his shirt and boots before stepping out of his jeans, leaving his in just his boxers. Running to the edge of the dock he dived in headfirst. As soon as his head surfaced he sucked in a breath and ran his hands over his face to clear the water. It was a little colder than he'd thought it would be. He smiled and turned to swim over to Kate. "So, have you decided where you want to buy me lunch?" he asked jokingly, a hint of playful smugness in his tone.

Kate resurfaced after diving into the water, and came up for air. She wiped the excess water from her face and looked at Logan and grinned. She was playing with him now, and she knew how to tease him. Even though they were just friends, she still played with the idea of teasing him by partially taking her clothes off in front of him. Just to watch his reaction was funny, but she didn't want to take it to far to where he was so uncomfortable that he didn't want to be around her anymore. She took a deep breath looking at Logan, her legs kicking slowly under the water, and her arms skimming over the top of the water. The water wasn't salty enough for them to be floating, so they had to actually work to stay afloat. She bobbed there for a while, then swam around, and dove under again to get her hair wet again.
She watched Logan walk onto the dock, and look at her and she smiled . " Come on in. I promise I won't bite," she said and bit the air playfully and laughed. She watched him pull off his shirt, and looked down into the water as he took off his jeans, and suddenly he leaped into the water and made a big splash. She shrieked and laughed. At first she didn't see him, but then he re-emerged and she smiled. She slowly swam over to him, and stopped as he wiped away the water from his face. When his eyes were closed, she quietly swam around the back of his and lightly pinched his back like a fish, and backed away when he flailed. He swam closer to her and she swam around him to stay a float. She swam closer to him slowly and gently put her arms around his neck and looked at him. She got lost in his eyes again like she used to. She snapped out of it when she heard his question and thought, " Well I certainly can't take you to Ro's, and certainly no fast food," she said as her fingers rested on the back of his neck. She stopped herself from playing with the hair on the back on his neck like she used to, and told herself that it would no longer work to make him love her like that again, would it?
She bit her lip and looked at him again as the water had her drift closer to Logan's body. " What about Jax's," she asked and her leg acidently touched his lightly, and she pulled it away.

There was no denying that Logan found Kate attractive. Hell, who wouldn't? She was a beautiful woman and anyone who calls himself a real man would know that. From the very moment she stepped through Ro's door she'd caught his attention. From her curly brunette locks, to her soft chocolate eyes and stunning smile, she was definitely easy on the eyes. He did his best not to let his inner attraction for her get in the way of their friendship, though. He was determined not to let that happen again. The sexual tension was obviously there, but he'd much rather just bury the feral emotion and pretend it wan't there. Sometimes that was easier said than done, and he was sure Kate toyed with him sometimes; which didn't help matters. But he didn't mind too much. After all, he was a guy, and little tease every now and then was a welcome occurrence. He found that he could control himself most of the time.
Logan pulled away, slightly startled, as he resurface and felt a tiny pinch on his back. He spun around in the water quickly and spotted Kate behind him looking quite mischievous. He smirked and swam a little closer to her. It was a cute look on her. "Oh, you're just asking for it, Miss Hudson" he chuckled. He was about to splash her when she swam right up to him and placed her arms around his neck, their bodies floating close to each other as she rested for a moment. He raised a curious eyebrow, about to make a humorous remark when he noticed her dark brown eyes staring into his. He'd almost forgotten how much he used to love those eyes... or rather, how much he still did love them. Seeing the emotion in her eyes sent a strange emotion through him that he hadn't felt in a long while. Suddenly all thoughts of anything else diminished and he wanted nothing more than to pull her close and feel her soft lips against his own.
Kate's words interrupted his thoughts as she answered his earlier question and he quickly snapped out of it. Biting his lip, he looked down and shook the feeling as best he could. But he couldn't help but notice how close she was to him now, her hand resting gently on the back of his neck. He cleared his throat somewhat nervously and looked back up to meet her eyes, restraining himself from pulling away from her as their legs touched. He forced a soft smile, doing his best to suppress the thoughts that were building up in his mind. "Sounds good to me" he smiled, gently pulling away and trading the surface for a second before dipping his head under. Coming up again he flipped his hair, hoping the spray Kate with the water. He shot her a playful smirk before quickly turning around to make his overly dramatic getaway, flailing his hands and feet as much as possible to cause maximum splash towards her face. He chuckled and turned around after he'd swam a few feet to see where she was, bracing himself for retaliation... knowing Kate, he was sure there would be some sort of payback.

Kate floated there and looked at Logan. For a moment, they were silent, and could only hear the birds around them along with the sound of the water around them. She breathed deeply, holding her hands onto the back on his neck, and softly stroked the back and played with a little bit of his hair. There was so definite sexual tension between these two, but they never acted on it after the break up. At that moment, lyrics from that Brad Paisley song, " Remind Me", swam through her head, and she stopped playing with Logan's hair. 'All those things that you used to do That made me fall in love with you.' She looked into his eyes and in her mind she was singing, 'Oh, so on fire so in love That look in your eyes that I miss so much.' She shook the notion and bit her lip and let go of his neck when he submerged himself once more. She floated there for a moment, he came back up, and splashed water into her face. She pretended to be shocked and looked at him. " Oh Logan, you are so going to pay for spraying pond scum in my face," she playfully growled and swam after him.
She reached out to grabbed him, but he grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her to his chest. She squealed and cringed as he tickled her in that spot that always got her. She couldn't stop laughing, and she tried hard to get out of his arms, but it felt so nice to be in that spot again. She wiggled loose, and spun around and dunked him under the water. Only that at that point, he hoisted her over his shoulder and tossed her into the water. They were making such a loud commotion that the horses who were over grazing just stood there and watched them. Crazy humans. She swam away and laughed at him. " Now, you just keep your hands to yourself," she said and backed into the pole that held the dock up. She watched him approach her, and she was trying to catch her breath from playing so hard. Her wet hair was stringy and some of it clung to her neck and cheek.
