Karaoke Night at Ro's was a favorite past time for the locals of Pinewood. Even if you could sing...or not, you could try your talent at Ro's for fun. No judgement, and no pressure to hit the perfect high notes like the big times. A " Singers of Fame" board hung on the wall next to the bar for those who sang the best according to the crowds. A few Polaroids were tacked to the board of the winners. Their five minute of fame on the stage, but an eternity of glory in their heart. The majority were locals, very few were from out of towners. So come on! Try your luck!
After a long day of snotty riders, unruly horses, Kate was ready for some down time, and what better place than to go than Ro's. She hung up her saddle and bridle, put Jericho in his stall, and said goodbye to her boss. She trudged out to her truck, and climbed in. She gripped the wheel, and started her vehicle and pulled out of the drive, and headed into town to the only place she could unwind. Ro's was her poison. She found her favorite spot and pulled in, and shut the truck off. She could already hear the music pouring out once she got out of her truck, and she smiled. Kate walked inside, taking off her jacket as she approached the bar, and greeted the bartender. " Hey Ryan," she smiled. The young bartender turned around," K Ro! Hey, Logan is in the back, you want me to get him," he asked when Kate turned to view the singer on the stage. She turned back around, scrunching her nose, and shook her head. " Nah, I'll see him when he emerges from his man cave," she chuckled and ordered a drink, and went to sit down.

It was about 6:00pm, and Karaoke Night was just kicking off. Logan's favorite day of the week. It was a genius idea really. Think for a moment; what could be better than handing a bunch of people, who are half on their way to becoming incoherent drunks, a microphone, shoving them on a stage, and telling them to sing their hearts out? Pretty much any other idea. Logan was sure he had heard at least a hundred people butcher 'Don't Stop Believing' and it just wasn't something that you could unhear. Sure, when Logan first started at Ro's, it was mildly amusing. But after a while, it got to be too much to handle, and many a nights he found himself wanting to shoot himself in the foot. He soon learned to put off his mid-day duties as long as he could so he had an excuse to stay in his office. But to be fair, not everyone who sang was horrible. Logan had heard quite a few people whom he didn't mind listening to. In fact, he was the one who instigated the Wall of Fame. It just felt right to reward the ones that he could actually bear listening to. And of course, Karaoke Nights weren't all filled with unfond memories. It was a night just like this that he had met Kate.
Ahh, Kate Hudson. What was there to say about this girl? She was pretty remarkable; the kind of person that wonders into your life unexpectedly and never leaves. Of course, Logan didn't mind having her around. Quite the opposite actually. He found that she was a refreshing twist in his life and he wouldn't trade the day he met her for anything, despite their somewhat complicated history. But Logan knew that part of their relationship was over, and he was glad that they didn't let it ruin their friendship. He still regretting letting himself use her as a rebound. She was a great person, and she deserved better than that. He vowed to always make sure she got what she deserved, and had grown quite protective around her. It was odd for Logan, seeing as he rarely found himself caring for anything that strongly. But it was different with Kate. He wanted to keep her safe, and never have to see her heart broken again. He respected their friendship too much to ever let her fall for the wrong guy again.
Logan ran a hand through his hair and looked up at the clock. 6:15pm. Had it really only been fifteen minutes? It seemed like he had been filling out this order form for at least an hour. He sighed and signed the bottom. Well, there went that. Setting his pen down, he pushed the form to the side and stood up, moving over to the filing cabinet in search of something to do. Ten minutes passed and and he managed to do was make a couple of paper airplanes. He glanced at the clock again. Thank God. Kate would probably be here soon. He knew she didn't leave the stable until almost 6:30, and if she wasn't too exhausted, she usually came here to keep Logan company until he got off work. Seeing her was really the only exciting part of his Friday nights, and Logan couldn't wait to tell her what had happened earlier today. He quickly pushed the crappy leather chair under the desk, turned off the office light, and closed the door behind him before heading out towards the bar.
The bar was more crowded than he had thought. His eyes scanned over the sea of faces before finally zoning in on Kate. He felt a grin creep across his face as he made his way towards her. "Hey," he said, slipping into the chair next to hers. "Thank God you're here. You will not believe what happened earlier." he placed his hands flat on the table and leaned forward. You could almost hear the excitement in his voice as he began, "Okay, so some guy storms in here, looking pretty crazed I might add, and demands to speak to some guy named Chuck. He's yelling like a madman, and before I could say anything, he marches right up to this guy who's sitting at the bar and WHAM! Lands a hard right hook right into his jaw. The guy falls down and this psycho just starts wailing on him. Ro literally had to jump over the counter and pull him off. Turns out, psycho had the wrong guy. The cops came and escorted him out and everything. It was crazy." Logan finished his story before leaning back in his chair. "So what happened to you today? I'll bet it can't beat that" he joked, folding his arms over his chest as he waited for her response.

Kate drank her soda, crossed her legs, and watched the singers on the stage belt out,' Don't stop believin',or ' Redneck Woman.' One singer actually came up and started to sing ' My heart will go on,' and Kate nearly choked on her drink. It was horrible! She put down her glass, and wished that now she had ordered a Samuel Adams to drown out the noise. There was a time when she used to do this a lot, and she still did from time to time, and she was actually quite good at it. Got the crowds on their feet, and she got an encore.
That was the first time she met Logan Harding. Ah, Logan. Dear, sweet Logan. He was probably one of the best things that have happened in her life. That and working at Pinewood, but Logan ranked number two on her list. She smiled at the thought of Logan, and drank some more soda. Even though things didn't quite work out as she had wanted, he was still a big part of her life. They would hang out till closing time, and then just get drunk and play around with each other. Part of her wished that they were still together, but things are good where they are now. They would playfully argue and banter at each other, and make each other laugh. The only part that made her sad was that he was still in love with this mystery girl, and she is engaged to someone else. Which breaks Logan's heart, and in turn breaks hers. She combed her fingers through her hair and checked her watch. Logan should be down by now.
She looked around Ro's, and finally sees him coming down, and she smiled. She stood up, and hugged him tight. " Hey Logan, about time you came out of that cave. I was getting worried," she smiled and sat down next to him. She let him drink some soda and she listened to how his day went. As he puts his head down, she combs her fingers through his hair and ruffles it. She knew he couldn't stand it. Fights, and brawls. Wow, his day was more exciting than hers. Lucky. After his story, she smiled and laughed a little. " I would hate to be the guy who got beaten up. And actually, I hate to say it, but your story does top mine. I went riding Jericho today, and an old friend of mine came to ride. Bentley Colman, I think I mentioned him at one point, but he now rides out at Pinewood. Well we are now back in the same social circles again. Also Jericho dumped me today..." she said. Yep, his story topped hers, but how would Logan react to her mentioning Bentley?

Logan gladly took a sip of the soda as Kate laughed and admitted that his story beat hers. He always loved winning their silly little competitions... but his thoughts were interrupted as soon as Kate mentioned Bently. Yes, he'd remembered her mentioning this guy before. In Logan's mind, he was the jerk who had left Kate after her accident and basically broke her heart. As you could imagine, Logan wasn't particularly fond of the guy. But he kept his mouth shut until she finished, nodding his head and trying to keep his thoughts to himself. After all, who was he to tell her who she could and couldn't talk to? Technically Logan had never met the guy, and he wasn't one to judge. But he sounded like a hot shot...
Logan shook the thought as she finished, telling him how Jericho has dumped her over a jump. "Wow, are you okay?" he asked, his brows knitting together as he quickly looked her over for any visible signs of injury. She looked to be fine, but you could never really could tell with Kate. She was one tough cookie, and her stubbornness didn't help any. But that was one of things that Logan admired about her. Although she preferred to call it determination instead of stubbornness. Logan smiled to himself as he remembered the friendly little argument they'd had about it. Whatever it was, he hoped she never lost it.
Once he was sure that she wasn't seriously hurt, he sat back and relaxed a little. But there was no way he could just pretend to ignore the Bently thing any longer. He wondered what was going through her mind. Surely she was still mad at him. After all, he'd left her when she needed him the most. At least, that's what Kate had told him. She wasn't planning on hanging out with him again; right? He knew he needed to keep his mouth shut and stay out of it, but he couldn't help himself. "Sooo, this Bentley guy... isn't he that cold-hearted, rich jerk that you described to me forever ago? Or am I thinking of someone else?" he asked, trying to keep his tone as casual and light as possible.
His eyes made contact with hers for a moment before looking back to the soda between them. He played back what he'd said in his mind and he instantly felt a little bad about it. Wow, he sounded like a total asshole. "Sorry, I didn't mean it like that... I'm sure he's a nice cold-hearted, rich jerk..." he said, offering a small smile. He ran a hand through his hair nervously and took another sip of soda. He hoped he didn't offend her. Facing Kate's wrath wasn't exactly something that he planned on doing tonight... suddenly the whiny sounds of someone singing 'Love Shack' made it's way to his ears and he held back a laugh. People just didn't know how to leave the classics alone did they?

Kate was a tough cookie when it came to being dumped by a horse. She's lost count of how many times she'd been thrown, but she can recall the bad ones. The worst one happened at the Budweiser Invitational years ago, upon Jubilant, and well... she'd rather not count that one on her list. She combed her fingers through her hair and cleared her throat. Bringing Bentley back up, brought back those painful memories, and she's rather forget them. At the time, Ben was an egocentric rich kid, who probably only saw Kate as a piece of ass, but now that he was back in her life things were different. He seems to have changed, for example his attitude, but his bad boy charm was still there.
She heard Logan describe him as a "cold-hearted, rich jerk," and it made a knot in her stomach. True, he was a cold ,heartless jerk, but he seemed different after she saw him the other day riding. They got connected again, and she feared that she was falling for him all over again, she was afraid to tell Logan, and she wanted to keep it from him. Kate rarely kept anything from Logan, but this would have to be something that remained private. She kissed Bentley, and he kissed her back. She liked it, and he probably has it in his head now that they are a couple. " No, it's okay Logan. You have a right to voice your opinion, but I don't know what happened. Bentley he... he seems different now. Like those two years of being apart had changed him, in a good way, and it makes me...glad. I don't know if I am ready to let him back into my heart again, maybe my life, but not my heart," she said softly and looked down at the table.
She drank the rest of her soda, and cringed at the singer. " Wish you could do something about this god awful noise," she said and playfully covered her ears. She laughed with Logan and looked at the stage, " Hey, singer. The pound just called, they said you're caused the dogs to howl uncontrollably," she shouted and laughed.

Logan listened as Kate told him he had a right to voice his opinion, and explained why she thought Bently had changed. He nodded, still somewhat doubtful. Honestly, he didn't sound like the kind of person who could change. But who knows; people had a tendency to surprise the hell out of Logan. Either way, he still wasn't a fan of this guy at the moment and he planned on keeping an eye on Kate. "Well, you should probably know that I'll probably be stalking you for the next couple of weeks until I get to know this guy. You know, monitoring your calls, waiting outside your door, following you to the super market; the whole nine yards." he joked, letting a smirk linger on his lips. Of course he was joking. Kate was entitled to her privacy, and Logan knew she could take care of herself. But he did intend to learn as much as he could about Ben. He wasn't one to trust someone until he had a good feel for what they were all about.
Logan's eyes drifted to the small stage, then back to Kate as she covered her ears. 'Wish you could do something about this god awful noise,'. Logan chuckled. "Mmm, don't we all. Unfortunately that's not in my job description" he said, turning away and waving down Ryan to bring them another round of drinks. Technically he was still on the clock, but his managerial duties were done for the night, and Ro was out of town. He knew Ryan could handle himself and wouldn't complain. Besides, he was off in a half and hour anyway. He turned back around just in time to catch Kate yelling at the singer, who happened to be a rather large women who looked like she had already had one too many drinks. Logan's brows shot up and he ducked, making sure his head was hidden from view. "Shhh," he said, letting a chuckle escape his throat. A grin spread across his lips. Kate never ceased to surprise him with her antics. "You're crazy, you know that?" he laughed, still keeping his head low.
Once he was sure the lady hadn't heard her, or cared to listen, he sat up straight again and shook his head. "What am I going to do with you?" he asked playfully. Just then, Ryan came over and sat their drinks down on the table. "Thanks, Ryan. Let me know if the tipsies try to over-run you" he said with a small smile. "Ma'lady." he said with a nod, sliding Kate's drink towards her before taking a sip of his own. He let the cold liquor slide down his throat and sat back with a satisfied sigh. "So, we still on for that trail ride next week?" he asked, crossing his arms over his chest casually. He hadn't rode in over a week, and he was anxious to get back to the stables. Plus, he figured the more he graced the stables with his presence, the better chance he would have of bumping into Bently. Not that he was looking to 'size him up' or anything... well, maybe he was. But either way, he figured he'd have to meet him eventually.

Kate gave Logan a dramatic surprising look, and gasped. She made a dramatic face to make him laugh and said," Well I do declare Logan, no man has ever admitted to stalking me before, though I am not offended that you have openly admitted to it. I'll just have to let Max know, that way he won't try and kill you if you try and break through a window," she said like a southern belle and smirks. Her dog Max adored Logan above all the guys that she brought home. Kate also still loved Logan, no matter how she always denied it, or what happens in their separate lives. She always had a spot in her heart for him, and it wasn't going to go away. He had that kind of affect on her, but she didn't follow him around like a lost puppy. She was her own person.
" Well it should be in your description. I could write it out ' Assistant Manager: Runs bar, does the books, orders drinks, odds and ends, plus controlling the god awful singing by drunks'. I should go right up to Ro, and tell him that!," she said and hit her hand on the table and laughed. She watched the woman singing, and she cringed and dramatically dug her nails into the table. Over the bad singing, she heard Logan trying to hush her comments, and she looked at him, " I'm sorry Logan, am I embarrassing you? Sorry, I didn't want to get you in trouble with the regulars," she laughed and watched him duck his head, so the woman could not see him. She smiled at Logan and nudged him to get him to move, and saw the woman look her way. She grinned and waved, and raised her glass. Pretending that she wasn't the one who made the comment, and when the woman looked away she laughed. " What will you do with me? Hmmmm, let me think, you could still be my best friend in the whole entire world, and admit it Logan Harding, you love and adore my crazy side, that's one of the things you love about me," she said and smiled and looked at him. He was so cute.
Kate smiled at Ryan when he brought them another round of drinks, and she tapped her bottle with Logan. She lifted the drink to her lips, and let the amber colored liquid go down her throat. She cleared her throat, and crossed her leg, and looked at the stage as the next singer came up, and this time it was a guy. He kinda had that Jason Aldean look to him. Kate smiled and clapped when he was announced. She looked back at Logan and smiled. She was glad to teach Logan how to ride, and even more she liked to trail ride with him. " We are still on for next week, if you aren't too busy working. I actually have a new horse, Sinatra, that I would like to try out. You can ride Jericho if you want, or I'm sure Sebastian wouldn't mind you riding one of our lesson horses again," she said and smiled. Why did Logan have to be in love with another girl. Her smile faded, and she drank her beer again and she looked onto the stage, thinking.

Logan laughed as she reacted to him admitting he was going to stalk her. "Well, I must say, I appreciate you're cooperation. You're by far the most accommodating stalkee I believe I've ever had... now, while we're on the subject, might I ask you to keep your window unlocked? That would be most helpful, thank you" he said as serious as he could before breaking into a chuckle. He always enjoyed hanging out with Kate. Even if she was a little ridiculous sometimes. He never knew what to expect from her, which was on of the reasons he liked spending time with her. Her spontaneity intrigued him. It had been a while since he'd had any romantic feelings towards her, but it didn't mean that he didn't love her in his own little way. There weren't really a lot of people whom he let close to him, let alone cared for as much as he cared for Kate. But there was something about their friendship that he couldn't put a price on. He knew he could never love her the way she deserved to be loved, but he could be a hell of a friend. In the very least, she deserved that from him. She had been there for him when he had been at his worst, and he could never repay her for that. But he could certainly try...
Kate's next words interrupted his thoughts. He cracked a slight smile as she went on to explain that noise control should be in his job description. "Should it now?" he asked, propping his elbow up on the table and resting his head on his palm as he listened. He stifled laughed as she finished and hit her hand on the table with conviction "You know what? That's a brilliant idea. You should tell him when he gets back in town... I'll let you borrow a fancy letter-head and everything. This should be official" he joked, nodding his head seriously. 'What will you do with me? Hmmmm, let me think, you could still be my best friend in the whole entire world, and admit it Logan Harding, you love and adore my crazy side, that's one of the things you love about me' she said in response to his question. He smiled, and pretended to think for a second. "Hmm... I suppose you're right on that one... yes, hold the press! I just admitted that you're right. This is a rare occurrence, as you're well aware." he joked. "Savor this moment, Kate Hudson. It probably won't happen again for at least a couple of weeks" he added, raising an eyebrow and letting a small smirk splay across his lips.
Logan's eyes drifted to the stage as they announced someone else. He looked like a true cowboy, complete with a hat. Logan lifted an eyebrow as he noticed Kate clap for him. "So you have a thing for the cowboy type, eh?" He asked with a playful smirk as they clinked bottles together. He was always looking to mess with her. "Hey, I'm not here to judge" he said with chuckled, still joking with her. He took another swig of his drink, swishing the bottle around in his hand and letting his eyes drift around the bar. More and more people were filtering in as the night went on. He brought his eyes back to Kate as she answered his question about their trail ride next week. He nodded. "Sounds like a plan to me." he said, already anticipating how he would react to meeting Bently. Logan wasn't the threatening type, or one to get in someone's face. The last thing he wanted was cause a hostile confrontation or upset Kate. But he also wanted to get a feel for this guy. He tried not to make a habit of disliking someone before he met them... but knowing Ben and Kate's history made it a little difficult. Either way, there was no denying the fact that it was going to be an interesting meeting...

" Alright, I will be sure to leave one window open. Maybe my bedroom window," she playfully teased and took a sip of her beer. Kate was a bit loopy, and crazy at times, but when she was with Logan she felt she could be herself. Not the uptight, straight laced Kate that you see at the barn, but a fun and spunky woman who liked to let her hair down every once in a while and have fun. She started to think back on the old ties when she and Logan tested the waters. He was hurting after the news about this girl that he liked, and Kate comforted him like she always would do, and one thing led to another and they shortly dated. It was for all the wrong reasons to him, and he didn't want to drag it on with Kate, so they mutually ended it, but she still held onto those feelings. How could she tell him, it would only hurt her more knowing that he still cared about this girl, and he could never love Kate like she loved him. It just killed her. " I shall write, ' Dear Ro. Given the fact that you work my dear friend Logan Harding so hard. I feel that his duties aren't what they should be. I feel that he should have one more task added to his job description. Please put into effect that he should control who sings what during happy hour. Sincerely, a loyal patron and a lady.' There will that do," she asked and drank more of her beer and chuckled. she dramatically gasped and put her bottle down, " Tell the president, and the pope! Ladies and Gentlemen, Logan Harding is agreeing with me. For once in his adult life, and he openly admits it. Only a true gentleman would admit it when he agrees with a lady," she said and tapped her bottle with him and grinned. She looked at the cowboy that Logan was referring to and rolled her eyes, " So what if I have a thing for the cowboys. Jealous, Logan. Will you admit that to, or should I weasel it out of you," she asked and listen to him sing on stage. He wasn't bad, and he was singing one of her favorite songs. She looked at Logan as he was watching the guy sing, and she swallowed a lump in her throat, and then down the remainder of her beer and wiped the excess from her lip. With his attention still on the stage, Kate got up, and walked to the bar. She placed her bottle on the counter, and Ryan walked over to her and saw a glint of sadness in her eyes. He handed her another and she drank some it. " Steady girl, don't overdo it. No one like you when you're sloppy," she told herself and put the bottle down. The cowboy was done, and she whispered her name to the announcer. " Well I must say this is a treat folks. Our very one songbird, Kate Hudson is returning to the stage for a come back. How 'bout that! Let's give a hand," he said and everyone cheered and clapped, and Kate walked onto the stage and put on her best smile. She took a deep breath and looked at Logan, and took the mic as the music started to play. She was a little rusty starting off, but then it all came out. "I drive an Army Jeep My bumper sticker reads Drink 'til he's cute That's what I'm gonna do Ain't got no serious thing Don't wear a diamond ring I got a new tattoo I think you'll like the view And in my mind The sun shines All the time
'Cause I'm just a summer girl I wear my flip flops When I let my hair down That's when the party starts Who needs a boyfriend I got my girl friends When we get together The summer never ends Yeah yeah, oh oh oh
Tanks tops and cutoff jeans Bikinis and belly rings We'll make that scene When the DJ plays Dancin' Queen Fellas, lay your money down We'll let'ya buy a round Don't push your luck Don't get more than your hopes up In my world Day or night Rain or shine..." Always a crowd pleaser.

Logan raised an eyebrow as she suggested leaving her bedroom window open. It seemed like a flirtatious statement. But what did he know? He may be charming, but when but it came to women, especially Kate, he was actually pretty clueless. Of course he would never admit it aloud. He nodded seriously in agreement as she described what she would write to Ro. "Perfect. Have it on my desk by Monday." he joked, hitting his hand on the table like Kate had earlier. Of course, it was his turn to roll his eyes when she began to bask in her rightness. "Alright, alright. Have your moment. Just remember this miss Hudson," he leaned forward with a serious face. "Your glory will be short lived, you can count on that. I'm bound to prove you wrong sooner or later." He leaned back with a smirk and took another swig of his beer. "You've been warned." of course he was just messing around. His eyes twinkled with playfulness and a subtle smirk still lingered on his face as he clinked bottles with her.
He let a loud escape when Kate answered his teasing question. 'So what if I have a thing for the cowboys. Jealous, Logan. Will you admit that to, or should I weasel it out of you?' she joked. "No, no. If that's what floats your boat, then far be it from me to tell you how to pick 'em" he joked, putting out a defensive hand and taking another drink before leaning forward with a serious face. "Just answer me this," he kept his voice low and pretended to look around for anyone who might be listening. "Is it that hat? It's the hat isn't it? Damn it... I could never pull those off" he shook his head jokingly as he leaned back, lifting the bottle to his lips again. "Or maybe it's the boots... I do have a pair of boots." he mused to himself before bringing his eyes back to her and breaking his serious face with a small smile. Turning his eyes back to the stage he tuned into the singer. Not bad actually. It was a nice change to the screeching notes of earlier. Maybe some people actually got better as they got drunker. Interesting...
Logan got lost in thought and didn't realize that Kate had gotten up until the cowboy had finished. He looked over to make a comment right as the D.J announcer her name. His brows shot up and he quickly brought his eyes back to the little stage. He smiled as he made eye contact with her, raising his bottle with an encouraging nod. He took another sip as the music began and she sang the first couple of notes. He had almost forgotten how good she was. A couple people from the crowd started singing along and waving their glasses; particularly a group of women near the corner. Logan smiled and continued to finish off his drink. As soon as the song was over, he clapped with the rest of the crowd before standing from his chair and making his was to where she was stepping off of the stage. "Wow, nice job. I mean, there were a couple of notes that were kind of shaky, but altogether I'd give it an eight out of ten" he shrugged, placing his hands in his pockets before breaking into a smile.
"I'm kidding. You did great. I had almost forgotten how good you were... you definitely deserved that spot on the board" he said genuinely, motioning to the Wall of Fame, which in reality was a cork board of some polaroids. But every one of those people had earned it, especially Kate. He stuck his hand back in his pocket and glanced at the clock. He would technically be off work in about ten minutes... "Hey, want something to eat?" he asked. He hadn't ate since lunch, and his stomach was beginning to protest. "Believe it or not, we make a pretty mean cheeseburger" he said with a smirk. Just then Ryan motioned him over. "Ah, hold that thought. I'll meet you at the table." he said, turning on his heel and making his way over to the bar.

If you want to end the thread that's fine, just have her say no and he can take her home or something. If not, I guess it's food time haha. Inspiration: After Midnight - Blink 182

Kate leaned in forward and looked at him, " Can I let you in on a little secret Logan," and she motioned for him to come closer," Women are always right. It's just the men's job to always agree with us," she smiled and finished her beer. She glanced at the cowboy and then at Logan and pondered, was it the hat that had her drooling over the cowboys? She pondered, making a face and looked back at Logan, " Nah, I don't think it's the hat. Any man who can pull off wearing a hat like that is hot, and no it's not the boots," she smiled and finished her beer. She pushed it to the center of the table, and thought about it for a minute. What made a man attractive to her? She reached for the peanuts in the center of the table and slowly chewed on one, holding the rest in her hand she replied, " It's not about the hat or the man that make him attractive, but looks do play a key factor. It really about the heart of a man. Is he kind, is he self-sacrificing, and willing to put others before him. He has to have a sense of humor, but also be serious and driven about what he wants out of life," she told Logan, and just named a few of her thoughts on the perfect guy. She ate the rest of the peanuts, and watched for his reaction. To her, she felt like she was describing him, or putting out a want ad for the perfect man!
Kate smiled at Logan when she stepped off the stage, and walked to him and hugged him and felt his arms go around her. She stood there for a second, and tried to remember how it felt in his arms, but he let her go. She smiled and saw some of the ladies over at one of the tables staring, and Kate blushed. " Thank you, anything to please my biggest fan," she smiled and her smile got bigger when he mentioned food. All she had to eat today was a banana and a granola bar. " I would love to try one of those cheeseburgers, hold the onions,"she said and smiled, and it faded when he walked off to the bar. She put her hands in her pockets and walked back to their table, and she sat down and ran her fingers through her hair.

Logan tilted his head and leaned forward, listening intently as she motioned him closer and told him she'd let him in on a little secret. 'Women are always right. It's just man's job to always agree with us.' She said with the sly kind of smile that Logan had always adored. He nodded his head seriously, "Ah, I see. And to think that I would have gone my entire life without ever hearing that vital piece of information. You're a lifesaver, Kate." he said placing his hand over his heart. "I'm eternally grateful" he shot a smile her way before taking another sip of beer. He studied her features as her eyes drifted towards the stage, then back to him. He smiled to himself, wondering what she could possibly be contemplating. Kate had a pretty complex mind sometimes, and her pondering never ceased to amuse him... although beautiful and intriguing specimens, women were just all around confusing sometimes. Logan had given up trying to figure them out years ago. He didn't think anyone would ever truly know what went on in their heads.
He listened as she finally let him in on what she was thinking, still smiling to himself. 'Nah, I don't think it's the hat. Any man who can pull off wearing a hat like that is hot, and no it's not the boots,' "Good to know. Of course it shatters any glimmer of hope I might've had, seeing as there's no way I would look good in a hat like that" he chuckled. She thought for a bit more before continuing on by telling him what attracted her to a man. Logan nodded, still slightly amused, but attempting to be more serious now. "Kate, it's always a pleasure to get a small glimpse into what goes on in your head" he smiled as she finished, tilting his bottle her way with a slight nod of his head. "And it seems like you've just described the perfect man." he raised his bottle to his lips, finishing it off, before continuing. "I sure hope you find him." he said sincerely, offering a small smile before glancing back to the stage.
After Kate had finished singing and stepped off stage, he briefly wrapped his arms around her before letting them drop and placing his hands back in his pockets. It always felt a little odd showing physical affection ever since they put an end to their romantic relationship. He was used to hugging her when they were together, and it would have been weird to stop now. But sometimes he wondered if it was too intimate, even though he knew their friendship was mutual; right? He quickly shook the thought though as she began to speak. 'Thank you, anything to please my biggest fan' She said in response to his compliment. Logan smiled before raising an eyebrow. "You're biggest fan? Wow, you know, that's puts a lot of pressure on me now, Kate. I feel like I need to make some t-shirts or something" he joked, a small chuckle giving him away. He was relived when she agreed to being hungry. He would've had wanted to eat in front of her, and probably would've forced himself to hold out until he got home. "Alright, sounds good. One onion-less cheeseburger comin' right up." he said with a smile before turning around to head towards the bar.
After he resolved Ryan's question and ordered the cheeseburgers, he officially clocked out before heading back towards the table, two more beers in hand. "Alright, the food should be here in a few minutes. Another drink?" he asked, sliding it over towards her. Hey, it was Saturday after all, and he knew Kate could hold her liquor pretty well. Besides, his house was within walking distance from here, so if needs be they could both crash there. Logan didn't mind her staying over every once in a while, especially since he knew there was nothing left between them. At least, he was pretty sure there wasn't. Which he was grateful for. Kate was different than most girls he had dated, who turned into absolute after a break-up. He really did value her companionship, and enjoyed hanging out with her. He would've been very disappointed if their friendship had been ruined over what had happened. "So, anything interesting planned for the weekend?" he asked, trying to make conversation to keep his mind from wondering down an awkward path while they waited for the food to arrive. He cracked open his beer and took a sip as he waited for her to respond.

Kate smiled at him and patted his cheek playfully, " I do what I can to prepare you for a life with a woman. I have taken it upon myself to get you ready," she said and finished her beer. Ideas and thoughts were always flowing around through her head. That's what made her so complex and interesting to some guys. Those green eyes would just stare off into the yonder, and drift. Sometimes, she would draw a blank, and just well...stare. She smiled at him and scrunched her nose, " Have you ever tried pulling off the whole cowboy hat and boot thing? Not that I want to change who you are, but you never know till you try something new," she said and ate a peanut. She gave him a small smile and threw a peanut shell at him and chuckled. True, she was describing the perfect man, but also in a way she was describing how perfect he was in her eyes. ' you have no idea, and I know I have found him, but he just doesn't feel the same way towards me. God, Kate you're a fool!' she thought and ate another peanut. " You only know a small portion of what goes on in my mind, Logan," she said softly.
Kate smiled when she hugged him , and slowly closed her eyes, taking in his scent. He smelled of musk, beer, and slight cigarettes from the bar. He was all man to her, but she knew that she could never have him fully. Not if he is still pining for another girl. She could only imagine him to be hers. She felt his arms go around her mid-section, and hold her close, but it was just a second. He her go, and she stepped away. She ran her fingers through her hair and sat down. She watched him as he walked away and went to the bar. She sat done and ran her finger around the side of the table. She treasured his friendship above all others, and would do anything for him; he knew that. She kept telling herself that it's for the best, and that what they had was so great. She wanted more, she wanted him to hold her, and for him to tell her everyday that she was beautiful.
She smiled as the food was brought over, and another beer. Let's see, that would be three for her now. She wasn't worried, she could hold her liquor. She smiled really big, and immediately went for the fries. She loved Ro's homemade fries and lightly seasoned. It was like crack to her, and she gave him a joyful smile and dipped another fry in the ketchup. " Ro's fries are like this powerful addicting drug, and I must stop," she said and laughed at herself and wiped her hands and eyed the burger. She took one bit and moaned. It was so good. Logan must have thought she was crazy, but she couldn't help it. She heard his question about the weekend and she shrugged, " Don't know about having fun. I got students back to back, and I'm getting a new horse soon. Why? What about you, got a hot date yet?" she teased and bit into his burger again.
