Polaris Andante
Owner Name: Ava Kenneth
Owner Age: 21
Owner Occupation: N/A (coming)
Other Horses? none
---------------------------------------------------------
Registered name: Polaris Andante
Barn Name: Emma
Breed: Dutch Warmblood
Color: she is a dark bay mare with a star and two hind socks. A medium length mane and tail, well confirmed.
Age: 5 years
Gender: mare
Height: 17.0 hh
Personality Description: She is a good mare. She isn't spooky, and is quite a mellow mare. However, being five, she does have some unfortunate habits. She loves people...a little too much. For example, if you are trying to brush her, her big nose will come right into your face, and she tries to look at you when you pick her feet. She will stand still for hours, but it is quite often a challenge to get her moving again. She has a good mind, though in hand she acts like an Shetland pony. Who says I have to go that way, I want to look this way! No, I don't really feel like walking thank YOU. Despite her finicky habits in hand, she has a still head under saddle, though she does chew the bit a lot, but she's young, so she'll eventually grow out of it.
When it comes to jumping, she becomes quite enthusiastic. She tends to jump high over things, especially on the cross country course. She gets nervous in a crowded arena, and often kicks out when she's nervous, so be careful. She likes to take her time getting into trailers, but she will do it. For some strange reason, she loves water. You fire a hose at the ground, and she'll immediately start rolling in it. Be careful on cross country. Never go go to slow in water. An odd characteristic for a warmblood, but every horse has their quirks. She is excitable jumping, and is elevated (when she's not sleeping) in dressage.
History: She was born on a stud farm in Holland. She was free jumped with her mother as a foal in the pasture (only over small jumps of course), and showed elevated movements. A big mare, she grew up fast, a little too fast, because as a two year old, she looked like one had taken random body parts from different horses and slapped them all onto one. She was imported, and sold to Beatrice at age two for $50,000, who passed the young mare onto Ava. Ava began training her, knowing only that she was a free jumper, so Ava continued, so she could keep her mare's jumping skills up. As a three year old, she began breaking her in for riding, and exercising her regularly, by way of either lunging, jumping (free), or very very light riding.
When Emma was four, Ava began riding her in earnest. She taught her basic lateral dressage movements. Light extentions, half pass, leg yielding, the works. She slowly began to carry herself elegantly, and Ava started her over some jumps. Emma showed enormous talent, and so she continued. Currently, the pair is jumping two and a half feet, and the mare has successfully mastered carrying herself elegantly. Of course, there are many little kinks, and she only knows the basics, but the intelligent mare has learned fast.
Discipline: English- she has been taken out on the cross country course several times, and likes it, a decent dressage horse, and a fantastic jumper. She also shows some Hunter qualities, but they are not enough to get her to derby standards.
Anything else? She loves ice cream.
