In the barn Dom is a big goof but the instant he steps hoof into the arena he because a pro. It's almost as if he was bipolar there are two completely different sides to him. He's serious and steady when in a show or even just practicing. He knows whats needed and expected of him when showing. But when he's in the barn or the field he's just a big dork. When Tucker's around Dom follows him around like a lost puppy. He's really just a big teddy bear and enjoys long naps in the barn or field with Tucker. Tucker and him are best friends, playmates, and business partners, it doesn't get much better. When it comes to other people he's a gentleman and with kids just a gentle giant he loves to sniff them and make them giggle. He does his sour times thought no horse is perfect and when he's practicing he ignores everything else... pretty single minded.
History:
Dom was your typical accident. A young stable hand was being careless around the prized stallion of the farm, Violent Crimes, and he got loose. Being that he was a stallion it wasn't hard to think of where he would end up. But the two weren't caught in the act so it was assumed that they were caught before anything happened. Not the brightest. The mare was unfortunately the least talented of all the mares and wasn't intended for any sort of breeding but more so for a companion horse and a trail horse... just for pleasure. Bella, the mare, didn't have great bloodlines at all and when they found out she was in fact pregnant they were quite disappointed.
When the foal was born that dissappointment faded a little bit. The colt looked extravagent, like his father with his mothers color. No one was expecting him to be so handsome... but as every horse person knows... looks don't make the horse. At a young age it was apparent that his confirmation wasn't anything great... he was average if that. So they sold him for a mere price of $5,000. The trainer who bought him thought they were getting a steal because of his sire's bloodlines... later on they discovered the horse's goof off and unwilling to work attitude. Domestic Violence as he was named was pure british warmblood that was clear but he was pure circus horse at heart. He could unlatch any stall lock and paddock latch, which resulted in him getting gelded to prevent any more accidents such as himself.
After 3 years of pointless training he was put back on the market again. Sold again for a low price to a well known "fix it" trainer that accepted any challenge. No he wasn't abusive and until Dom came along he was great at what he did. But nothing could break Dom's spirit he was young and youthful. He liked to play and be a goof. His second owner taught him what a saddle was and he could be ridden if you didn't mind his, what seemed to be, ADD. One moment he would be soaking up what you were saying the other he'd be yawning or trying to shake you off his back. The 3rd owner got a little more advanced but lacked the patience that Dom required. They got him focused long enough to teach him to jump low jumps and some simple dressage moves. But not enough to get him to compete. After 2 years of painstakingly slow progress he was yet again put back on the market.
That's when Tucker came into the picture. By this time Dom was tired of traveling he was still gentle and silly but he took a while to warm up to someone... who could blame him either. He wasn't aggressive just sort of shy. Tucker was persistant though and now they could often be found lying together in the paddock napping. Dom was sweet and gentle and once the bond between him and Tucker was set it wasn't hard to get him to focus in the arena. It was as if Dom knew how important what they did in the arena was to Tucker. So when they were in there Dom turned into a professional eventer and nothing could distract him. Now three year from their first day together they were competing together over 3 feet easily and rapidily learning more and going higher.
Discipline:
Eventer; mostly dedicated to Dressage.
Anything else?
He absolutely loves strawberries and animal crackers... along with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and jellybeans and red vines on occasion.
