Physical description:
When you look at Mio, at first you will see a typical Japanese girl. Sort of short, dark, long hair, with straight cut bangs that fall just above her eyes. But it her eyes, those hypnotizing eyes, that set her apart, to say the least. They certainly aren't black are brown; rather, they are a soft shade of some sort of blue-gray color, the one clue that hints that she isn't completely Japanese, like her appearance might lead you to think. Her eye are expressive and bright, whether gleaming up toward the sun, or shielded behind a wall of tears. Her expression is always one that is easily read; her eyes may as well be made of glass.
Physically, Mio is typically considered to be extremely appealing. She has a petite waist, but is otherwise rather curved. She's cursed with a lard bust, and though she isn't ashamed of it, she doesn't quite take pride in it, either. Her body is like an hourglass, but her bust is just slightly bigger than her hips. She's rather fair-skinned, but not pale enough to look sickly. Her face looks almost like the face of a child, and sometimes leads other to believe that Mio is still a minor. Even she could admit that she doesn't think she's physically matured much since sophomore year in high school.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES:
It certainly has to be her eyes that draw more attention than anything; they lure people in effortlessly, even if she only glances in their direction for a fraction of a second.

BUT HE WON"T BE SLEEPING
BECAUSE THE HOURS SHE'S KEEPING ARE NOT RIGHT
DISLIKES: blood; gore; horror movies; scary stories; and anything scary, really; barnacles; seaweed
STRENGTHS: any school subject; maturity and making good choices; strong willed; patience (usually)
WEAKNESSES: being the center of attention in a large group of people; drawing attention to herself purposely; crashes under too much pressure; has an incredibly weak stomach
HABITS/QUIRKS: will faint on the spot if she gets too scared or nervous; will instantly fall to her kneed and cry upon being frightened, typically; has a soft spot for anything outrageously cute
OVERALL PERSONALITY:
She's always had a wonderful sense of instinct and maturity; she's always been the one that sits down and actually studies, actually reads books for her classes, and always passes with flying colors. She's a very determined girl, who always has her priorities set straight. Despite her intelligence, however, she can be a tad bit oblivious about other people's feelings and actions. She wouldn't know if someone was hitting on her unless they were literally groping her, and she surely can't take subtle hints about things; everything said to her must be said bluntly, or she'll be lost.
She is the biggest "scardey cat" that you will ever meet; just the slightest mentioning of anything gross or violent will bring Mio to her knees, trembling. She's always had a weak stomach, and it is certainly one of her biggest weaknesses. However, anything frightening will terrify the girl, such as screamo music and skulls. She also happens to be terribly shy. She is typically okay with meeting new people, and talking to people. Once she is comfortable with people, she is more than open. However, when put on the spot or pushed in front of a large group, she panics. Years of being in a band has helped her, but she still is a terribly awkward girl in the right kinds of situations. She also has a slight bit of a temper; she even becomes slightly violent when angered. However, this doesn't happen often at all; she only becomes angery with a lot of pestering, and only lets herself become angery at people who she knows extremely well.
Lastly, Mio is a big softy. She'd be willing to go out of her way to help anyone, friend or stranger, so long as it doesn't involve humiliating herself. However, there has been situations where she has done just that, and she isn't sure whether she regrets them or not. She's naturally a very selfless person; if you have a test that you didn't study for, Mio's the right person to come crying to. She's also very sensitive underneath her maturity. Her feelings are hurt very easily, and she is embarrassed even easier. She has a secret love for cute things, and this often shows in her doodles and song lyrics. However, she blushes upon such things being addressed. In short, she's a young woman who is still really a child at heart.

OVERALL HISTORY:
Mio Akiyama was born to a typical Japanese family; but in all reality, neither of her parents were completely Japanese. They did look it, however, and so when the neighborhood residents saw the couple walking around with a blue-eyed baby girl, they were surprised, to say the least, at the oddness of it. Mio grew up sheltered by love, and completely unexposed to the dangers and horrors of the world. This could possibly be the blame as to why she is so squeamish, but her parents wanted to help make her as good of a person as they could. They always told her to do her best, and Mio, who always had the will to please, did do her best at everything she did. However, she didn't do it for them, necessarily; she did it for herself. Even as a child, Mio was always extremely concerned about her future. In first grade, even, she looked at every test like her entire future depended on it, and so she was sure to study until she could no longer properly function.
This was mainly because in Japan, if you get into a good middle school, you can get into a good high school; if you get into a good high school, you can get into a good college. Getting into any school required testing, so Mio made herself the queen of tests. However, her focus was taken slightly away from her schoolwork when she met her first friend, an obnoxious girl named Ritsu. At first, all Ritsu did was fluster her; she would wander up and go, "Look everyone, Mio's a lefty!" or, "Mio has such pretty hair!" The girl wasn't afraid to scream things out to the classroom, and all it did was make Mio embarrassed. But soon enough, the two were best of friends, despite being complete opposites; Ritsu was obnoxious, energetic, and childish; Mio was calm, collected and mature. But, they couldn't live a day without each other, and at least had one thing in common: the love of music.
It was sixth grade when they each decided to pick up instruments; Ritsu went for drums, Mio went for bass. There were numerous reasons for her choice of instrument, but the main reason was that in a band, the bass doesn't stand out, but is still there, accompanying the other instruments. Mio hated spotlights, she hated attention, and so, she thought the bass the an excellent choice. It wasn't until a year later that Ritsu and Mio were watching a concert on TV, and Ritsu suddenly said, "You know, we should start a band. I'll be the drummer, you'll be the bassist." Mio didn't argue, but she didn't agree, either. In freshman year of high school (which is the American equivalent to sophomore year), Mio was finally forced to join a band, rather than a literature club, by Ritsu. Of course, there wasn't much she could do about it. She was even forced to be the vocalist, which completely ruined the point of being the bassist. Mio soon grew at least slightly accustomed to the spotlight, but never felt comfortable with it.
In her final year of high school, Mio realized that she had lost sight of just what she wanted to do with her life; with her grades, she realized that she could have gotten accepted into any school in the country. However, it was hard to decide what school to go to if she didn't even know what she wanted to do. Soon enough, the spontaneous idea to study abroad popped in her head; even Mio, to this day, couldn't explain where this thought came from. Her friends, her band members, were shocked to hear her say, "I think I'm going to America for a while." She just had a feeling, a very sudden feeling, that something was waiting for her there... She promised her friends that she's be back, though she didn't know when, and she left in the blink of an eye, out on an adventure to explore her horizons. What awaits her there? She's not so sure yet. But, she is sure that it's got to be something thrilling.

ROLEPLAY SAMPLE:
Mio Akiyama~
Her eyes were shut tight, her hands gripped tightly to her own skirt, as there was nothing else to hold onto. Her heart sounded like a drum, thumping in perfect rhythm, though that rhythm was quick and heavy. Perhaps she was getting herself too worked up, perhaps... But the girl couldn't help but be afraid of heights. She'd never dreamed of flying up until now, but there was no other convenient way to get to America; she was out of options. All she could do was panic and hyperventilate now. She leaned herself against the window, and pretended she didn't exist; she tried to play music in her head, and she silently lips the lyrics to herself. The suspense was getting to her, quite obviously, and had she opened her eyes, she would have seen a few passengers looking over at her with concern. However, this wouldn't have helped her at all, and so, it was best that her eyes were kept closed.
Soon enough, her eyes slowly opened; it seemed like she'd been cowering for hours. She was sure that they hadn't even lifted from the ground yet, but sure enough, as she looked over to the window, all she could see was soft white clouds floating beside her. She blinked, eyes wide, and for a moment all she could do was stare. Her breath started to calm, just slightly, and she lifted one hand to pull her hair from her face. She'd panicked just enough to completely ignore the entire take-off. "Are you alright, ma'am?" Mio jumped, startled, and looked to her left; a flight attendant was looking over at her, worriedly. Mio blinked, hesitated, and briskly nodded her head. "Y-Yes, I'm fine..." she responded, still rather breathless, and as the attendant left her side, she threw her head back against the seat and closed her eyes. Now the only thing she had to worry about was landing.
