I took the stars from our eyes, and then I made a map
And knew that somehow I could find my way back
Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too
So I stayed in the darkness with you
Marissa pulled up to the stable in her new truck. Okay well it wasn’t new, just new to her. It was a 1992 Ford F-250 that was in almost perfect condition, and besides her horse, it was Marissa’s baby. It was her going away present from her mom and dad when she left Tennessee. Along with the truck she was able to take Prince with her. She had trained the stallion since he was two and they had an inseparable bond ever since. Prince kicked the side of the trailer, eager to get out and explore his new surroundings. So Marissa shut off the engine and hopped out of the semi-lifted truck. Opening up the trailer Prince looked over at her and whinnied excitedly.
“Hey there champ.” She said walking over to the big-boned paint and patted him on his hind-quarters. Rissa untied the lead rope from the trailer and led him out into the sunlight. Prince’s eyes widened as he looked around bewildered.
“This is your new home. What do ya think?” She asked kissing the horse’s jaw. He nudged his nose at her shoulder as if saying, “SHOW ME MORE!”
Laughing she turned around and shut the trailer and began walking towards the stable hall. Thoughts raced through her mind as she walked the eager stud inside another world. This place was nothing like his barn back in Nashville. Her parents had bought a nice house with a small pasture and barn. It was an old place so to be in a place so fantastic was a huge change. He had a couple horse friends and a mare that he was in love with so to say… And Marissa felt kind of bad taking him away from it, but she thought this would be a nice change to the both of them.
Marissa and Prince were inseparable, best friends. He had the temperament of a stallion so he was headstrong and frisky, just like her. They understood each other. If another person were to ride Prince, they would most likely not live to tell the tale. He was aggressive beyond belief and his heart belonged to Marissa and her only. Even stepping foot by him without her in sight puts him on edge. So she makes it clear to everyone around to stay clear from him. Even to Marissa he can be quite the little pill, but he’s usually a sweet heart when it comes to her. He would never do anything to put her in danger, he just likes to get his way.
“Well, here we are Prince. This is your stall.” Marissa said leading him into the comfortable, cozy, and nicely sized stall. Rissa wanted to get quaint with the environment before she took him out and introduced him too, just so she was a little more comfortable with what she could be getting herself into. She checked his water and made sure he had enough food, kissed him, took off his lead rope, pulled a treat out of her back pocket and gave it to him. She locked up and left the stall and headed back outside.
