When Chase showed up to school with bruises everywhere he got defensive when people asked about them. When Chase got kicked out of his house, he became even more so. He built up a wall around himself and wouldn’t let anyone in to help him. On the streets, there was even more trouble than just in regular school. He became more defensive and he became sneaky and he disobeyed everyone

-- HISTORY
Chase was born on December 10th 1992. His mother was unstable when she gave birth to him and because of that she died right after he was born. From then on his father was his caregiver. But Chase wished he was alone. From a young age his father would abuse him. Whenever Chase did something his father didn’t like he would get beaten. This was when Chase wasn’t even 10 yet. Chase learned from his father that violence was acceptable in any situation. So at school Chase got in trouble because he ‘wouldn’t respect the hands off rule’. Chase got to think that was pretty funny which got him in more trouble.
When Chase was eleven his father kicked him out of the house. Chase would roam the streets at night just for something to do. That was when he got into the gang stuff. He would skip school to hang out with his gang buddies. He no longer was in contact with his father. He later heard that his father had died of cancer. Chase leaner dhow to be a real gang leader and how to live in the streets. He lived off of barely anything, stealing food as he went along and sleeping in a stolen sleeping bag. He traveled all over the country wandering with no place to go. One day he was in the Supermart in a town, he didn’t keep track, and he noticed a girl walking towards him. She extended her hand and introduced herself as Macey. Chase had no idea what this girl was capable of right then. When Macey heard that Chase was homeless she immediately let him stay in her house.
Four years later Chase was still living in Macey’s house. Her parents had officially adopted him when he was 14. Much to his dismay they wouldn’t just let him go live on his own. They took him in and treated him much better than he treated them. They believed in him when no one else did. He used to betray them and they would always punish him which would make him disobey even more. Finally they couldn’t take him any more so they gave him away to their friends who knew how to deal with ‘troubled teens’. He thought they were sending him as a joke because he thought it was pretty funny that they thought he would be cured of his misbehaving just by sending him to a shrink. He spent 1 year there and no luck. So they finally decided to find him something to do. They found him a horse to ride hoping it would free him of his behavior.
Chase named his horse Red Rock's Last Chance because he felt this horse was his last chance to shape up.Red is a thoroughbred, Trakhenir cross. Chase was amazed at the talent this horse was showing. He decided that he would learn how to ride this horse by himself with help from Macey. Chase set his mind to this and he started to see results. Not only was he getting better at riding but he was beginning to be a better person. He still gets like he used to and most times he stays that way for a while. But he is still working on change. And for that reason his foster parents have decided to let him come to this school to persue his riding with a few conditions. 1 to keep up his grades and 2 to stay out of trouble.

Chase circled Red back towards the gate. Flower was trotting away from what looked like Teddi. Chase smirked. Rolex on the other side was still cantering only now a few feet away from them. A few strides away from the gate, Chase asked Red to slow to a walk. Hayden slid off Red and said "Alright". She scanned the paddock, her eyes locking on a log on the other side of the paddock. "Hey Chase, where did you live before here?" She motioned for Chase to ask Red to walk alongside her.
Chase left the question hang in the air before responding. To be honest, he had no clue how he was going to answer. He had lived everywhere. Even he had forgotten the feeling of living in a secure family. He took a deep breath and began. “I started off in Georgia. When I was kicked out at 11, I traveled across the country until I reached Virginia. Then I was adopted. After a few months there, I was sent to live with a shrink in Ohio. I stayed there a year then moved back to Virginia. That was when I found horses. Then a few months later, I was moving here.” Chase said. They were about ¾ of the way to the log and Chase let the silence fill the air. Red ambled along matching Hayden’s pace.
They had reached the log and Chase didn’t dismount to sit beside Hayden. He stayed atop of Red and leaned back so he was lying down. He stared up at the blue sky. There were a few clouds in the sky. Hayden had kept quiet since chase had told her about where he had lived. Obviously she wasn’t expecting him to have such a checkered past. Oh well, everyone always does that when I tell them where I have lived or even my past for that matter. That just made the hurtful memories come flooding back to Chase. He had kept them hidden and locked up in his mind but whenever he was even a little bit vulnerable they came flooding back with even more hurt then the last time.
Every blow, every taunt, every ones face who had made fun of him came flooding back in like a movie sequence. First the blow, then the pain, then the faces that were made at him – first concern then hurt when he chased them away then the pain of feeling rejected by the people. No one ever seemed to care when he came to school with black bruises all over his face. Or when he tried to stay strong, no one wanted to try and get past the walls Chase had put up around himself. Chase closed his eyes willing the water in his eyes to go away. He didn’t want to seem like a coward to Hayden, always crying. He took deep breathes trying to forget. As if that would happen.
