I swear, I never meant to let it die
I just don't care about you anymore
It's not fair when you say that I didn't tryI just don't care about you anymore
Hope. Just one of the many things Chase had given up on. Maybe it was because he didn't have anything to hope for or maybe it was just because Chase was sick and tired of just being disapointed. For the past few months Chase had lived in disapointment. That was because of just one person. One. That was all it takes, one person. That was why he hadn't been to the barn in months. Too much reminder of her, of them, of what could of been. Now she and their relationship just a small piece of worthless trash. Or at least to her it was. That's how Chase felt. Maybe all Chase wanted from coming to the barn was closure. Maybe that was why he stood next to a fully tacked up horse headed to the practise ring.
This ring reminded Chase of her every where he looked. from where they first met, when he fell and hit his head, and the place where they had her colicky horse. She had Chase believed that he was the one who saved him. Chase just needed to get her off his mind. Completely. At this time they had made it into the ring and regarding the jumps Chase shuddered. Totally ot what Chase was expecting or wanted. They were skattered all aorund the ring and the highest was set at 2'4. He smirked. Tying Red's reins to the fence he had already come up with the ideal course. He dragged the nearest jump into the center and set it at 3'1. He then dragged the next jump into a straight line 3 strides from the last and set it at 3'6. He continued the pattern with the 6th and final jump at 5'1.
Chase turned and walked back to Red. obviously he knew what was coming because he had been dancing on the spot since when Chase set up the first jump. Chase mounted Red from the ground and picked up his reins. He scanned the barn area and was glad to see that there was no one else around. He didn't want anyone to see him around and then bombard him with a million questions. He did not need that right now. Caught off guard, Red bolted forward causing the reins to slip through Chase's fingers. Before the could get any looser Chase picked them up and sees sawed them until Red slowed to a controlable canter.
Chase steered Red to the first jump at a steady pace. She had made his life a living hell even though she wasn't ny where to be near. When she just got up and left it gave Chase the window to sink back into his old ways. And now 10 months later, Chase had gone back to his old selfish, moody ways. No one wanted anything to d owith him and part of Chase wanted nothing to do with them either. This just frustrated Chase because with all his progress in the past year have now gone to waste. All of his anger from the past 10 months now seemed to well up in his body. Coming up to the fourth jump standing at 4'8 Chase pushed Red into a gallop. He wanted the speed of Red to drown out the anger and frustration he had but so far it wasn't working. They sped over the next 3 jumps and as soon as Red collected himself from the jump Chase skidded him to a stop and jumped down still holding all of his anger inside.
He stalked over to the nearest fence pole and began kicking at it. Totally forgetting about his horse, He kicked that pole until his foot started to hurt and the pole stood high. Chase slid down and rested his head in his hands. Chase felt something soft push at his hands. He slowly looked up expecting to see someone standing there but it was Red. For the first time in months Chase stretched his face into a smile. Maybe this was just the thing Chase needed, maybe it gave him the closure that he needed. Maybe this was a sign that hope still exists for Chase.
